Whitehaven never had a chance

Set up by Oak Ridge (aka Alabama) knocking Riverdale starting qb out of the game that came before the Maryville-Riverdale showdown, (cupcake scheduler)Maryville will now have to beat a good Memphis Whitehaven on a neutral field.

Side note: The same undefeated team Smyrna played and defeated at Memphis Whitehaven’s field last year , that injured two all state performers, one missing the other a former mvp running back who could only play defense, that missed the Maryville-Smyrna Showdown.

Beat Whitehaven and I will give you some credit.

Time to man up.

So the non-fumble forward for a first down for Whitehaven the officials gave them on a fourth down wasn't enough? The guy was lying on his back before the ball came out. Whitehaven had their chances and did not get it done. The holding calls were all legit. The block in the back on the punt was real obvious. Whitehaven's offense will not get it done at that level. They also had no answer for Clemson bound (hear that Dooley?) #57Guillermo's blocking. It was a pancake 5-10 yards downfield on nearly every run block.

Congrats, Rebs. Once again. That's their 9th.

I thought the refs did a good job on the game. Maryville looked to be in trouble when i saw the size difference, then i remembered who was coaching.

Whitehaven just lost their composure in the end.

Whitehaven lost this game because of 3 things:

1. They stopped trying to pound the rock, and started acting like they were the '99 St. Louis Rams.

2. Their special teams unraveled in the 4th quarter, resulting in a -8 yard punt, followed by a punt that didn't even go 20 yards (ultimately ended up in 2 Maryville scoring drives).

Which leads me to the 3rd and biggest reason;

3. They did it against Maryville. If there is one team in the state that you don't want to f##k around with and screw up against, it's the Red Rebels of Blount County. They did, and they got beat.

End of story.

Exactly. If you make mistakes against Maryville, CQG will eat you alive.

The refs made sure of that.

I would safely say Whitehaven had the personnel to win that win by 2 td's. But Maryville being Maryville "better coached / better scheme" was the difference. Thought Whitehaven should have tried to get to there playmaker (#5 I believe was his #) in space more oftern on short throws (screen, bubble, flare, jet sweep, etc) but easier to say that when your not in the fire... Was a good game to watch, one of the better Maryville teams I've seen. Would have loved to seen them and Ensworth battle. But only in fantasy world......
