Who’s worse ?

My vote would go to To’oTo’o. He left the Vols to go to our biggest rival. Not sure if he had to leave with the investigation going on though.

Lane really stung, but he went to his dream job and it wasn’t in the SEC.

Nico, it stinks to lose the experience and what could have been, but he struggled and our offense struggled last year in the passing game. This one doesn’t really bother me, especially with the circumstances of his group.

Kiffin. Hands down.

A player can be replaced so much easier than a first year coach who had brought a whole new staff in. There was not a clear person to turn to even as an interim really. Complete disruption from top to bottom.

Also, Kiffin leaving resulted in players transferring out too.

It's Kiffin and it's not even close.

That’s right, but had the right here been made, we wouldn’t even be talking about it still. During Dooley compounded it. There were better options.

I believe Henry T had no choice in the matter along with several others

I actually understand Henry T, becuase he was a California kid who had no ties to Tennessee to begin with. He was heavily recruited by Alabama and would have gone there if not for Pruitt coming here. When Pruitt left, the program was in a state of disarray. We didn't know what the repurcussions would be, who the next coach would be, or what the roster would look like. There were many players who left the program and went elsewhere. I can't blame Henry for wanting to play for Saban. It was his best option at raising his draft stock.

As for Nico, I think there is so much more to come out about the situation and the timeline. It's the current landscape of college football and NIL that is to blame. It's still the wild west in some regards and kids and their parents are going to make mistakes in the process. I actually think the staff didn't do enough this offseason to really build around Nico and the offense. Sure, some decent pieces were added to the OLine, but not enough done in my opinion in the skilled position groups.

Lane, I wasn't around as a fan yet. USC was a dream destination at that time, so I can make sense of it. In hindsight, I'm not sure he would have worked out here. He was young and immature and even with the talent he had at USC, did not quite build a powerhouse. I don't think it was until his time as an assistant on Alabama that he was able to start implementing some tempo the his scheme which really spurred on his modern day success.

For all the damage that Lame Kiffin did to TN, it amazes me that his name would come up in this forum when a coaching search took place. Even after he trolls the Vols, some folks would still consider him a candidate to return. Much like Nico, he wasn't that good

No, the next 3 hires after Lane was the problem.
Right, especially the first. Snowball effect after that. I think that’s what people kiss about that whole deal is that it wasn’t Kififn leaving that set them back so much, it’s what they did next. I still think giving Kippy the interim job for a year and seeing what happened was the right now. Thought that then and still think it. He could’ve made a couple nice hires to replace the guys who went with Kiffin and things may have been much better. In fact, I have zero doubt it would’ve been better than what happened by hiring Dooley. If Kippy didnt get it done in 2010, you’re in a great spot to make a hire then. You’ve got months to kick the tires.
