This stupid mega conference BS means some teams are about to get screwed. 5-6 teams will have 2 conference loses. It's impossible to say who the 2 best are. The highest ranked team has only played one top-25 team, and they were destroyed by them at home. (Compare TX's pathetic schedule to FL's or GA's for example.)
The idea that roughly 2 people are sitting in the sec office making the schedule (which is what they do) is a joke. The East & West may not have been perfect but it was mathematically backed-up. You want huge conferences so the networks and schools can make TONS of money? (which is the only reason it's done.) You have to break it up into 2 or 3 divisions, so there's similarity in schedules.
