Woke up with this news of the Jones hire and was let down... only to get home to research, and now has a warm and fuzzy..? I have to admit I wasn't thrilled, but I believe this hire has the potential to be a home run.

What quantity of alcohol consumption is associated with the acquisition of this warm and fuzzy feeling?

I had the same reaction. I woke up this morning and really didn't like the fact that we'd hired him. Then I started doing research on him. Then I watched the press conference and now I'm pretty darn happy with the hire. I think we got a class act who's going to come and do a lot of good for Tennessee.

I was underwhelmed to say the least but now I am cautiously optimistic. I will support Coach Jones until he gives me reason not to.

I was the same way. The more I read about him the more I like him.

I see you are from McEwen. I was just through there the other day!

You know, what other choice have we got other than to suppport and hope for the best? Just like with Dooley, if it doesn't work out eventually we will move on. You still have to stick with your guys.

Did the research last night after it began to seem like Jones was the hire if he wanted it. It helped with the wake up. I may have not been extremely excited when I woke up, but I wasn't depressed either.

I agree.... and I Ain't gonna lie, I was dumbfounded. I just hope he gets his ''Best staff in the country''... I am anxious to see how it all plays out. Been a bit since I have been intrigued by UT football. I Like the things he has said today. And judging by the reaction of his former team, I believe he seems to be a man of character and will make the things he spoke of happen. In a nutshell I didn't know squat about who we hired and I'm gonna give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Go Vols... :good!:

I can understand why people reacted with some anger. We have sucked for too long (twts). Frustration is at it's peak. Hopes were high. If not for Gruden, then for another big name to get us front page on ESPN and get the hype machine going. Well, obviously, it didn't happen. However, it's done.
The man wanted the job to coach for us. The others didn't. Honestly, I didn't like Gundy or Strong. I think Butch can win as many games here as them, and am excited that we are finally adapting to college, and now pro (rg3) offenses that can use the whole field and keep you in football games as long as Sal Sunseri isn't back there putting your worst db on their best wr on 3rd down, repeatedly. I knew little of CBJ, other than word of mouth and stated records, conference, etc. But I talked to some people outside of our little bubble. I read Mort. I see Peyton texted him. Peyton just doesn't text people for the hell of it. Then I watched some videos. Then I see what Cincy is saying about him. Then I hear "player coach" from some in the know. Then I see his presser and can tell he is nervous and that means he is excited and scared and that's a damn good thing sometimes.
Then I remeber how I felt when Dooley was hired and I didn't see those things. I saw wit and sarcasm, and hoped. Well, I'm hoping here too, but I'm more excited than I was 3 years ago. Yeah, poo poo that if you want, but that's how I prefer to look at things. I suppose I could say he won't make it and repeat it for a couple years and complain the whole time, but that's what the weak minded do. It's easy to point out the negative in any situation. It takes perspective to find the positive. So what am I know for this view? A BJ slurper?

I formulated an opinion solely based on a Gruden hire and since it didn't happen I am eternally bitter and will always stereotype anyone coaching UT not named Gruden as a total failure even before the press conference is over.

Hart lied to Vn when he said he was going to get us a coach who had SEC level experience. Central Michigan and Cinncy are not SEC level head coaching experiences.

if this "up-and-comer does not work out... Hart and jimmy the Cheek need to be tarred-and-feathered.... then ran out of K-Town on a rail!

I support the Vols, but I do not support Hart, Cheek, or the Jones hire in any way. We needed a coach with major program D1 experience. Hart simply failed.

GBO... anyway!

Flame away...

I thought that way this morning, honestly had the very same feelings. I changed my opinion when i had a chance to research. I like the fact that the ''People in the know'' endorsed the guy. Manning, Mortenson... etc. I am hopeful that the man can live up to his words... assemble the best staff possible, incorporate some of of UT's legendary players turned coaches back into the program. That in itself has me excited, all the while I can remain cautiously optimistic. Who knows if he can bring the Vols back to National prominence...? I dont, but i like what I am hearing...
