that Rodriguez told Bama to take a hike last year but jetted almost immediately for Michigan?

It's probably been discussed on here but you gotta love it :)

I guess the 12 NC's weren't enough to lure him away last year

He thought that he would win a NC this year at WV. Now that it can not happen, the time is right to move up.

I don't doubt that had an effect on his decision last year but why wouldn't the same thing effect his decision to go to Michigan?

Assuming...and this might be a big assumption...that White and Slaton are back next year he would be in pretty much the same position he was in this year...

And he isn't going to compete for a NC immediately at Michigan because he will have to implement his offense at a school that has been recruiting players that aren't meant for the spread offense....in particular the QB Mallet...

With that being said...I think the situations are basically identical...yet Rodriguez told Bama to hit the road and bolted for Michigan almost immediately after they came calling...

You gotta love it

I would think he wouldn't totally implement his offense just yet. If he did he would be stupid. Run an offense that you have the players for and recruit for what you want to do. Besides, Terrell Pryor is now interested in Michigan.

I just read his press conference. He said, "it took a program of this caliber to get me to leave".

I think it just says that the SEC is alot tougher than the BIG-10. He thought he would have a much better chance to win a NC at Michigan than Bama because he pretty much only has to win 1 tough game a year up there. At Bama, he gets Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, and Arky every year and not to mention Georgia and Florida ever so often. It was really a smart decision in the long run. It is, however, funny that he turned down Bama and jumped at the chance to coach Michigan.

Yeah, Fulmer's 1-3 career record against Saban, including this year's 41-17 massacre, really causes me to find humor in him being the Alabama coach instead of Rich Rodriguez.

Your statement has nothing to do with this topic. RR turned bammer down and he pointed it out. It is a shot at bammers pure and simple. If you let your hatred of our coach down a second you could see that.

i bet michigan has much better talent currently than bama does.

Not to mention the fact that they have a "Hamiltonian" view of their head football coach. They are a much more patient AD and fanbase than Bammer.

Yeah, real shot. Hey, Alabama you ended up with a better coach than the first one you tried to hire. That's a great one. That'll show them.

Your trying to be a smart ass and I give you credit you are good at it. But you know exactly what this is. I guarantee you bammers took that as a slap in the face. There was no shot at your hero $aban or anything about your most hated coach, Fulmer.

I would love to coach at Michigan or tOSU...

All you have to do at either school is beat the other team and you're either in the Rose Bowl...one of the most beautiful bowl games there is...or better yet you're in the NC

How easy would that be to recruit?

"Hey young man...come to Michigan/OSU and you get to pad your stats all year against inferior competition...but nobody will realize they are inferior because the media will build these other teams up all year so it will make what you're doing look great...."

"Then at the end of the year you get to play a legit game as part of the biggest rivalry in college football at one out of two of the biggest stadiums in college football in a game that will be billed as the greatest game all year..."

"And all you have to do is win that one legit game and you will go to the Rose Bowl at the very least...and if you have a great game you will automatically be considered a college football legend by the media..."

Who wouldn't want to go there?

Maybe he's a good enough coach that he can make a hybrid of his system like Meyer did in his second season? Never can tell...just hope he can take care of OSU.:)

Sports talk radio (if you can call it that) in Birmingham confirms this statement. Bammers see it that way and that's enough for my entertainment :hi:

Steve Slaton said that he doesn't know why RR went to Michigan and not Bama. He said that is what he would have done.
