Since Texas has definitely decided to go the Arch Manning route and Ewers has another year of eligibility where do you think Ewers lands? Day has been singing his praises since beating Oregon and discussing the Texas matchup so I have no doubt the Buckeyes will make a play. They already have the relationship with Ewers and Will Howard has no more eligibility. I am also reading Bama, Oregon and Georgia want him so it may come down to money.

Of course, as a Tennessee fan I do not want him at UGA or Bama but would not be surprised.

I'm seeing a potential $5-6M NIL for Ewers if he stays. If he were drafted in the second round, he's likely getting close to that with WAY fewer expectations + some kind of signing bonus.

Staying in college, someone wants him to be a "franchise QB" while going pro he would probably sit behind someone getting a little older and have time to learn the NFL.

I'm not sure he's a "franchise QB" in college currently, much less the pros. Given the chance to earn the same money with less pressure and hone his QB skills in the NFL, it's a no brainer for me to hit the draft.

Ok what did we miss?

Texas seems (justifiably) committed to riding with Quinn Ewers for the rest of this season, but that is very much a short-term arrangement. From the moment Steve Sarkisian landed Arch Manning's commitment, the timeline was clear to everyone involved: Ewers would get a couple of seasons at the helm in Austin, then jump to the NFL Draft when eligible to make way for Manning. That's not going to change just because Ewers has underwhelmed to the point where it makes sense for him to play one more year in college rather than going pro; that's an Ewers problem, not a Texas problem, and Sark isn't likely to risk the biggest recruiting win of his tenure in Austin in the name of throwing his incumbent a bone.

Also:

Quinn Ewers reportedly has a massive offer on the table to switch schools and stay in college for another year.

On3 Sports reported Tuesday that an unnamed school is making a $6 million pitch to the Texas quarterback to enter the transfer portal and take over behind center.

Watching the Texas-ASU game, I found it hard to believe a program would pay 6 mil for Ewers, but the price of quarterbacks has reached insane levels. I will say that he closed strong.

Oregon folks seem to think they already have Dillion Gabriel's replacement on the roster.

That is supposedly why the 5 star they just signed went back into the portal. He was told he would be sitting a year or more and left.

Everything I see is that Notre Dame is willing to spend big for him and since he probably wouldn’t get drafted until the 3rd or 4th round he will make more in college then the pros next year.

If Ewers gets a 1st or even a 2nd round grade, he would be a fool not to enter the draft. The rookie salary plus bonus will dwarf whatever he gets offered to stay in school.

This draft class is pretty weak. I don’t know that he would make that huge of a jump by switching from Sark, who is an offensive genius, to a program like Notre Dame, which is not a very QB friendly system or to a lesser program, like UNC, for comparable $, but competing against lesser competition.

If his goal is to play in the NFL, it makes no sense to transfer to a lesser school or a system that isn't as QB friendly as the one he had at Texas. Like you said, the draft is a weak one QB-wise, and Sark isn't going to have Manning sit for another year. If he's not gone, he isn't serious about being a pro.

There is no way he stays at Texas. Even if they think he is better than Arch. Texas won’t let arch leave Texas just so Ewers can play for a 5th year. If sark did that he would be fired. They have to play manning next season.

Agree this draft is weak in terms of QBs

Even with that, he is projected to be the 8th-9th QB taken. He could move up/down with a good/bad Pro day and Combine.

Usually that works out to a 5th or 6th round draft position.

Once you reach the 4th round, the contract values don't really change that much even at the late 7th round.

Basically, if he's taken in the 4th he would get a 3 year contract for about $5 million including signing bonus

Looking at the numbers, honestly if someone will pay him $4-$6 million to play another college season he would be a fool not to take it. That would basically be how much he is paid for the next 3 years on an NFL contract

I know he'll not stay at TX but wherever he goes in college they'll immediately want him to be "the man" while if he goes to the NFL there's a good chance he's not considered a day 1 starter but allowed to sit and learn at least a year.

And for likely the same money he can get in NIL + a signing bonus + he's in the NFL one year closer to his 2nd contract and much bigger money (assuming he can eventually start.)

It's a no brainer to go to the NFL if he grades out to be a 2nd or even 3rd rounder unless ND does something stupid and offers him $10M for a year.
