Let's break it down, eh?

crowd: Aggies
Quarterback: Aggies
RBs: push
Receivers: Aggies
O-Line: Ags, with Munoz out
D-Line: Ags
LBS: Vols
DBs: Push
Intangibles: Ags

Probably the Ags.

I'm not going to get ahead of myself quite that far. We had a good showing against OU, embarrassed a decent OSU team, and finally beat Tech.

Tennessee beat Georgia, got beaten badly by Auburn once but played them very hard last night, and should have healthy QB's by Jan 1.

I'm hoping for a great game, of course pulling for the Ags, but I'm not certain a win is guaranteed.

I honestly don't know much about you guys. Judging from your results, y'all are probably better than your record, but it's hard to believe that you guys played OU tight AND lost to Baylor.

Then again, I guess that's sort of like beating Georgia and Florida, but losing to Notre Dame. :shakehead:

As far as your breakdown goes, I think our RBs may be a little better, but I honestly can't believe that your DBs could be as bad as ours are.

our DBs are really hit or miss. they played very well against tech and decent against OU (gave up TDs but was able to contain white & co. enough to keep us in the game) but looked AWFUL at baylor, at utah, and also looked sloppy vs. colorado.

We're good at free safety, but really inexperienced at corner. We've been able to bail them out by pressuring the QB, but we've really been giving up a lot of yardage through the air the last 3 games.

Yep. A team just needs decent passing ability and they will be able to score all over us. Our ability to win this game lies in our running -- Gerald Riggs and Cedric Houston. They've played right through two of the toughest run defenses in the country in Auburn and Alabama.

We have a weak secondary, good linemen and good LBs. Our o-line can be suspect at times, but we have good RBs and receivers. QB is decent, but he is 3rd string.

Althought your secondary may be weak...our season has shown that if opposing D-Lines can get good pressure on our QB, it will compensate a bit for the poor secondary.

Am I wrong guys? The only reason the Wide Receives stats are low is because they spread the ball around this year.

I'd agree with that. We don't have anybody with big stats, but that's more a function of using freshmen QBs and having so many receivers that play. We have about 6 big, fast receivers that we run out there interchangeably that could start on most teams.

Swain is massive, and Meachem has really been impressive of late.

I dunno, I'm thinking our WR's are damn good. When Murphy is hot, he's tough to beat.

wide reciever is one thing that they surely dont come close to. we have one if the best WR corps in the nation. even (corso :finger:) stated that our depth was one of the best...Go Vols and keep up the good work

Terrence Murphy
Jason Carter
L'Tydrick Riley
DeQuawn (I'm not gonna even try to spell it correctly) Mobley
Boone Stutz (our massive tight end)

That gives McNeal 5 targets. 5 DAMN good targets. And that's not even all of the receiver corps (I'm not diehard enough to be able to list them all). Plus, God-willing, Reggie will remember that it's ok for him to scramble out of the pocket and run with the damn ball.

Franks
Schrader
Taylor
List goes on and on.

Not to mention we have receivers that can throw the ball 60 yds.

What the Ags lack is a power running game and everybody knows it.

We have 9 guys with over 100 recieving yards this year:

Robert Meachem (429)
Tony Brown (375)
Jayson Swain (364)
CJ Fayton (285)
Bret Smith (280)
Chris Hannon (210)
Cedric Houston (179)
Cory Anderson (134)
Derrick Tinsley (111)

And with the exception of Tinsley, all of these guys have TD's as well as Chris Brown, David Holbert and Justin Reed. A&M has pretty similar stastics, except Jason Carter and Terrence Murphy seem to be far more favored than most other recievers, whereas Tennessee tries to spread it out more.

A&M seems to have one or two really talented WR's while Tennessee's WR corps sports a little more depth.

The reason that we may not have as many WR's with a lot of yards could be the fact that Reggie has thrown to something like 15 different receivers. When you spread the ball around that much it's hard to have big numbers with one guy. Of those 15, 6 have receptions over 50 yards meaning we can stretch the field with alot of guys, and we have 9 guys over 100 yards.

I am sure your guys are very good too, but you cannot deny that our WR's are top notch. Oh and Corso, Herbstreit, Jim Donnan on CBS etc. have all said that we have probably the best group of receivers in the Big 12. Just an insight from an A&M fan.
