Just curious to see if everyone is as desperate as I am for some racing. I already ordered the Chili Bowl for Saturday night. :) I figured it might help hold me over for a few more weeks!!

little story:

i have a buddy whose grandpa was a USAC midget champion in 1972 as a car owner. he passed away last year and the flag from his casket (he was a vet as well) is going to the Chili Bowl this weekend, with several of my buddy's family to be given to Tony Stewart, to be flown at Eldora Speedway.

i thought that was pretty cool.

Trying to get by with German TC and Pinks just isn't cutting it. Not too much longer to Speedweeks. Any testing reports from Nascar teams?

Speed Channel has been reporting from testing every night at 7pm. Mon and Tues Jimmie Johnson was on top of the speed charts. (I know big shocker) Then on Wed Kyle Busch was on top. I dont know if its on tonight or not. Check the Speed website and they have their schedule.

Speed Channel gets pretty bad during the NASCAR offseason. They play pinks and monster truck shows all the time. Pinks is ok but monster trucks suck.

I like watching the SCCA & vintage car events they have shown. Agree on Monster Trucks, staged event for the most part. There is a guy from Bristol, Randy Moore, who has been an occasional entrant.

They do have a few good shows. I like the Barrett Jackson auctons too. I don't care for Barry Mcguiar too much and his show Car Crazy. I find that guy a little odd the way he gets right in someone's face and shoves the microphone halfway up their nose when doing an interview.

At the risk of getting off subject, I enjoy the auctions, and cannot believe the $ some muscle cars are hitting. I remember not all that long ago you couldn't give away a Mopar w/hemi. I also enjoy My Classic Car, since I have a 1964 Pont. Bonn. conv. my dad bought new.

These are not too good, but they show you what it looks like. As I said, Dad bought it new, so it's a one owner! My wife & I dated in it before we were married. It has the 389ci w/315hp eng, 4spd Turbohydromatic trans, leather int, power windows, AC (uncommon in 1964), rear speaker, HD brakes and still has original spare.

This was taken on Daytona Beach Feb. 1965. That's Richard Petty with my Mom. This is was taken off of a copy of the original so its not very sharp. Mom and I took the original into the pits after the Spring '65 race in Bristol, and Petty autographed it. They would let you do that back then. I met many of the drivers of the sixties in the Bristol pits/infield. My favorites were Fireball Roberts & Junior Johnson. I got Fireball's autograph about 2 weeks before his crash that he died from. Here's a trivia question, What do Fireball & Junior have in common besides being race drivers? And does anyone know how Fireball got his nickname?
