Who is really number 2?

Team B.

Looking at Sagarin's ratings though, A&M at #12 is an absolute joke. He factors in SOS just a little too much.

The fact that CBS based this on the Sagarin rankings makes it pretty useless.

Sagarin's strength of schedule ranks all 10 members of the Big XII 1-10.

The chart conveniently leaves out that Team B lost to Iowa State....

This. The Aubies I work with were sending this around until one of our nerdiest engineers pointed out that losses to unranked teams weren't really part of the formula.

Anyone over Bama. I picked B.

There's an inherent flaw in the way we determine the champion in college football. When you let human beings decide which teams are the best, you allow our emotions and opinions and how much money can be made to become involved in the process.

From the article. Sorry, I added the bolded part. It's a given, probably left out due to oversight.

notice he notes that he used the Sagarin rankings before he removed point differential. That is not used in the BCS formula for good reason. If you play in a conference/region where most teams don't play defense and you do (like say the west coast conferences) then if you are even a decent team that thinks a bit about defense then you are going to have a really inflated Sagarin ranking. Also if you lose to a meh team it should count much more against you than losing by a field goal to the best team in the country.

No matter how anyone cuts it Ark, LSU and Bama are 3 of the top 5 schools in the nation. It sucks for them they happen to not only play in the same conference but the same division. The fact that 2 of them have one loss and one stands undefeated is a miracle in and of itself since they all played each other. You would expect the law of averages or better yet the law of Murphy to give one of the 3 a silly loss to someone else or for all to cancel each other out.

It sucks for everyone else but it comes down to this when you have a number of one loss teams it all comes down to who their loss came by. I go with the one that barely lost to the undefeated team sitting at one. Throw everything else out don't even count the fact they also beat Arky and only played one close game all year. Not a single one of the teams in the conversation even beat a single team near the level of Arky....except one.

I'm sorry, but if you have a loss to Iowa State, gtfo.

If Okie State makes the BCS championship game, they will shiz all over themselves. LSU would destroy them. I expect Oklahoma to crush their hopes anyway.

If Bama gets to go then the SEC's perfect record in BCSNCG will go out the window...
