I'm not trying to be cute but, I have questions. Who is the NCAA? Who gave them so much power that they can bully a school, haunt a coach and levy fines, remove past championships, etc. It makes me ask, how do we get rid of the NCAA? Why do we not just make laws pertaining to college sports. Don't say its about the student please.

The NCAA enforcement program is intended to reduce violations of NCAA legislation and to impose appropriate penalties if violations occur. The program is committed to the fairness of procedures and to the timely and equitable resolution of infractions cases.

An important consideration in imposing penalties is to provide fairness to uninvolved student-athletes, coaches, administrators, competitors and other institutions.

The Divisions I, II and III Committees on Infractions are composed of primarily of individuals from NCAA member institutions. The committees are responsible for determining whether rules infractions occurred and, if so, what penalties should be applied.

The NCAA enforcement services staff is responsible for investigating violations of the rules. No staff member sits on any of the three infractions committees, and no staff member influences the committee’s judgments once evidence is presented.

You can want to get rid of the NCAA all you want but if it did go away, it would just be replaced with another org and do the exact same thing.

The NCAA is made up of all the members. A co-op of schools so to say. For the NCAA to be gone each school would have to vote to get rid of it and that aint happening.

You can pass all the "laws" you want but in the end someone has to enforce the laws which would be the exact same thing we have now.

Its the same debate as why doesnt Div I fb have a playoff.

So, who is the BCS? well, they are the schools of all 12 Div 1 conferences. Together they all decide how the post season cfb is administered. Ok, lets disband the BCS and give all the control to the NCAA. And who is the NCAA? they are all the schools in all divisions. So moving from the BCS to the NCAA is changing from schools to schools. Aka nothing.

In the end there will always be a governing body over all institutions. It will either be a private entity with its own agenda and financial goals or it will be a group that governs itself.

No im not drunk as you suppose. Its time that schools leave sports and just educate students. Ncaa and the schools should be busted. The ncaa has a strangle hold on the lives of student and schools and coaches. There is no fairness, nor is there a good reason for the Ncaa. And again please don't say it for the student.

what you're saying is to disband all sports. Because as long as there as sports there will need to be someone to govern them. Disband sports and you take away a large group of students from getting a higher level education for free or a highly reduced price. You can also ask the city of Knoxville and its merchants how they would like not having the revenue from football, basketball, etc... that they receive on game day.

Good luck with that.

You are not only "up a tree", you are way out on a limb that is about fall. If you feel that way about college sports, you have no business being on this or any other sports board.

"THE NCAA's CORE PURPOSE IS TO govern competition in a fair, safe, equitable and sportsmanlike manner, and to integrate intercollegiate athletics into higher education so that the educational experience of the student-athlete is paramount."

No Im saying that at all. sports should be put in the private spector. If the NCAA wants fairness then lets have fairness. If you can levy a fine then you can levy a sealing on a salary. There can also be a rule installed that says you can only have 1 number 5 star until they filter around. Don,t say that can't be. Florida would not end up with an advantage as always and kentucky nor Duke would have the advantage with all the top recruits. Bust the NCAA.

Wasn't the NCAA formed by the member schools and are all voluntary members ?

In other words, formed their own police force ?

And who in the private SECTOR would enforce these laws? How would this eliminate any advantage any school has over the others? Those programs have an advantage because they win, not because the rules favor them. I'm really trying to give you the benefit of the doubt here instead of laughing you off the site.

No, I think I read that a former president started the NCAA, when his brother got a bump on the head because he wore no helmet. All that NCAA, NFL, NBA, NASCAR, NHRA do is put a monopoly on sports so you can not compete. Scholarships; who pays for those scolarships? A university who is tax funded. Well night all! Hey Shane, your hair will look good pulled up with a pink ribbon and a red rose behind your ear.LOL:birgits_giggle:

While the University of Tennessee and the University of Tennessee Athletic Department share the same name they are funded entirely different. The university is tax funded but the AD is funded thru the revenue it genereates as well as funding the scholarships.

A monolopy is where there are many buyers but only one seller. This isnt the case with the NCAA. Each member school is free to enter or leave at any time. On top of that there is another league they can join - the NAIA. While the NCAA is the most predominant, influential, and prosperious it isnt the only game.

the same people who enforce little league or any Nascar, any Nhra, These student are being used for hugh proffitts. All for the name of education. Bull hoppers. Their trained from grass hopper to the pros. The schools have just used this for proffitt. Paying a college head coach 4,5, 8 million a year. Don't say it not for money. Sports need to be sports and education for education. Tell me how can a small school ever winn over a school like Fla or Ala when UT can't compete. And you say thats fair. If FLA get the top recruits every year they will stay on top. If the UKs and Duke always get the top recruits they will stay on top. Then you breed the grounds to cheet to compete. You are just to simple for me. You become like a punch drunk boxer. They have the advantage because they win how stupid LOL.
