Just curious if anyone knows or has some (factual!) insight into who actually made the call to hire Serrano? Was it actually Cronan who pulled the trigger? I know that MH lead the search most of the way, but if you read Serrano's quote, he talks about the last 24 hours being crazy. That leads me to believe that he was not offered the job until Monday or Tuesday (as opposed to being offered while MH was still on board and then delaying the decision for whatever reason). Just curious if a major university would entrust this type of decision to an interim AD and one that has not previously been involved in hiring for that sport?

In all seriousness, I read somewhere on twitter where someone was congratulating Cronan but I can't remember who it was. Could've been someone just assuming that she made the hire.

I think I remember hearing during the MH resignation press conference that there was a committee in place to make the decision.

That's interesting. :hi: If true, that leads to the obvious question -- who was on the committee?

I would be willing to bet anything it wasnt Cronan. Atleast not by herself and without being given the go ahead. If it was all her and she got it done maybe she needs to run both mens and womens. Definately a top notch hire and very un-Hamilton like.

When Cronan accepted the acting AD position, didn't she say that the first thing up was hiring a baseball coach?

Cronan did say that her 1st priority was hiring a new baseball coach and if she did make this hire she just hit a grand slam homerun and should be given serious consideration for our AD position.

Our new AD won't have to worry about making any new coaching hires for at least 4 more years anyway so Cronan will have plenty of time to get up to speed on all areas of our sports programs if she isn't already.

GREAT hire for our baseball program and this already moves us up the ladder of prominence to get better recruits.

Actually there are some programs staring at some coaching changes in the relatively near future.

Without more improvement the track & field programs for instance.

Trembly in swimming has needed to go for 10-years

Another school could also snatch away Winterbottam in tennis.

But I agree, there should be no changes in the big-3 programs for 3 years. I think we are comfortable with giving guys 4-years to improve. (perhaps too much so-see Raleigh who we knew after year 1 was incompetent)
