OK all this crazy talk about who is the next coach and no one is thinking about the real question
Who should be the next coach?
Gruden was not a real option and realistically not even a smart choice he is not proven on the collegiate level, let alone the SEC.
Strong well Helen Keller could have seen he wasnt coming to Tennessee, month ago Louisvilles AD said Strong is their man and they will match any other schools offer.
Toying with all these names immediately followed by NCAA sanctions to follow is idiocy.
So here are the must haves for the person who should be the next UT Football Head Coach:
Must have experience as a head coach, coordinators do not always make great coaches
Must be available and not under sanctions or pending sanctions
Must be of decent moral character
Willing to sign a long term 7-10 year deal
Two way buyout clause, protect both
Clause for length of time notice that they wish to leave must be provided. (lets even call this the Kiffin Clause)
Work for about 3-4 million a season, Sabin makes over 5 million but he is proven SEC winner.
Able to deal with media, athletes and fans
Not afraid of Sabin!
Got to be able to recruit
I have the answer of who that person is too Andy Reid. He brings in about 3.5-4 million a year at the NFL level, so offering him 3.75million should bring him to Knoxville. He will be without a job after this season. He knows how to win, has struggled some with post season. He can handle the ins and outs of dealing with athletes, media and fans; look at how he handled the McNabb n Vick controversy. Because he is Andy Reid and coming from NFL recruits will come the first two years on their own. After that he should be able to recruit due to a good record and sound team, with great coaches; then we can begin competing on the same level as LSU and Bama. The Presence of Andy Reid on the sideline would also encourage optimism and drive ticket sales. It makes so much sense yet no one approaches this whole fiasco with any sense at all
