Many years ago -- maybe in the 70s -- there was a LATE night preacher that would come on the telly just before midnight sign-off in East Tennessee. I think it was on the Knoxville station, probably WBIR. But it could have been one of the tri-cities stations, like WJHL out of Johnson City or WCYB out of Bristol/Kingsport. I think his name was Robert something (Smith? Scott?). He would look right at the camera. A very earnest man. Anybody?

Thank you. This sincere man of God with his plain-spoken direct delivery made an impression on me, then a cocky and flippant young man. I worked 2nd shift at a factory and would come home late at night, tired and dirty and just needing to unwind a bit before bed. We only got 3, maybe 4, TV channels back then and Pastor Harris was one of the last things on before it went off the air at end of day. He didn't rant and rave. He just gave us the words of a loving, redeeming Jesus, looked us in the eye, and invited us to consider our ways. Thank you Brother Robert.

It was a really well delivered message. He didn’t ramble on for 15 or 30 minutes. Just a quick 3 or 4 minute preach and off he road on his horse (well, at least in the end credits - he actually recorded each daily show from a studio). I liked him as well.
