Okay, New Orleans and Indianapolis are 13-0 headed to the playoffs. Will both teams rest their starters? Are the Saints who don't often make the playoffs play their starters all the way into the playoffs and try to get an undefeated season? Which of these teams, Colts and Saints can go deepest into the playoffs and be in the Super Bowl? Which team(s) stand in the way of the Colts or Saints to keep them from making it to the Super Bowl?

GO COLTS!:clapping:

I don't think the Colts can sit their starters, at least not yet. I think they'll play the Jag game like normal. After that who knows.

Saints haven't wrapped up homefield so obviously they have to keep playing.

Personally I'd like to seem them both go for it.

With me being a Colts fan I definately want them to go all the way and do what the "almighty" patsies couldn't do. Go undefeated. But by watching NO and Indy play I would have to say that NO has a better chance of not losing. Just from what little bit I've seen the Saints they appear to be more solid in every aspect. I really hope they both meet up in the SB undefeated. That would be a game for the ages!

Colts have homefield wrapped up already. They will be taking the next three weeks off.

The Vikings next two opponents are Carolina and Chicago. Assuming they win, the Saints will have to win their next two to clinch home field, leaving one game to take off at Carolina. They might be able to win that game with their backups in for a half.

They will both lose this coming week.

The Saints really haven't looked all that good on defense, the Cowboys will be desperation mode and will beat the Saints. I'm more confident in the Cowboys than the Jags

As far as the Colts go they are banged up, and they got homefield advantage throughout already locked. Jaxsonville usually plays the Colts tough anyway

There's no way I can see them doing that. Their first playoff game will be a month away, so taking 3 weeks off I would say would be a pretty dumb move.

You are forgetting one thing though...the Cowboys suck in December.

Taking time off once their spot is locked up has always been Indy's MO. They will do the same here. I would be shocked to see any of their starts in past halftime of any of their remaining games. They are going to take the next month to get healthy, and presumably start watching a whole lot of San Diego football.

The way it looks right now, San Diego will buzzsaw Indy in the playoffs. But that's a ways away.

I'd rethink that MO, since it hasn't exactly worked out so well for them when they have a bye.

The coach of the Colts said they'd play them one at a time and Peyton said he'd like to continue playing. I'd like to see both teams go undefeated to the Super Bowl-One for the Ages!
Colts will play against Jacksonville like they have everyone else. If the Colts are winning by 21 going into the 4th quarter, then rest the starters.

Does San Diego being 19-3 in the months of December and January dating back to the '06 season help my argument? Or how about the Chargers knocking the Colts out of the playoffs two seasons in a row?

If the Chargers beat Cincy and Tennessee in Nashville in the next two weeks, there should be little doubt left that the Chargers are playing arguably the best ball in the land.

Well the Chargers are 10-3 and the Colts are 13-0, so I think the team that is 13-0 is probably playing better ball than the team that is 10-3. The Chargers have beat these teams: Dolphins, Giants, Eagles, Broncos and Cowboys. How many playoff team you see there? I see 2 maybe 3. They are a good team but I like the Colts chances, they will have to come to Indy, so I really hope for this matchup.

Haven't the Saints pretty much said they're going all out for 16-0?

The Colts will probably do their usual thing and rest starters for multiple weeks going into the playoffs, lose a game or two due to backups playing, and then lose the first playoff game.

The Saints have said that they are going for 16-0.

Caldwell said that they won't treat this game any different that any other. Polian has indicated that any player that has injuries will not play, any one that has been injured like Gonzo, Brown, and Adam V. will play in place of a starter so they get timing and rythm down and lastly if say 2 offensive line starters are hurt then Peyton will sit, but if the line is healthy sounds like PM will play all 3 games.

I see.

I know the odds of it actually happening are very slim, but it'd be awesome to have them both make it to the Super Bowl undefeated. That way we're guaranteed to have Mercury Morris stfu forever.

Then again he'd probably just crow about his Dolphins being the first to do it.

I agree, being a Colts fan I would love to have both teams show up undefeated, that would be great. And it would be wonderful not to have to hear from the Dolphins anymore.

I'm aware of the past history. Buzzsaw is a strong word when talking about an undefeated team, all I'm sayin.

Yeah, it is. But I still believe that's what will happen. Indy has had a few games in a row that I like to refer to as "moral defeats."

One would have to be absolutely off their rocker to think that Indy can keep playing ball the way they have been lately and win consecutive NFL playoff games.

As for the Chargers? Winning against Cincy and next week at Tennessee would be about as big a momentum swing as one could hope for going into the postseason.

Moral defeats? Really? The one year they actually won the Super Bowl was the year where they had all the close games in the regular season. If anything, I think all those "moral defeats" will help them. As far as momentum goes, winning twenty two straight is about as good as it gets

Neither of the Chargers wins over the Colts were runaways either. I'm not saying the Colts would win, but get run up on, no way. The Chargers actually scare me more than anybody else does. Luckily we wouldn't face off against them to the AFCC most likely.

This isn't even a healthy Colts team playing right now. Hasn't been all season, yet they still find the ways to win.

I think "moral defeats" is a bit strong.

I do think it's pretty obvious San Diego has replaced New England as the Colts' thorn in their side. And I also do believe even at 13-0, the Colts are still playing the role of underdog in a way because everyone is gushing over the Chargers and everyone keeps waiting on the Colts to lose. So the Colts still have a pretty big chip on their shoulder.

At the same time, I can't say it's unwarranted either. The Colts have a well deserved reputation as being a great regular season team, bad playoff team. Even the Super Bowl win in 2006 didn't erase that because they followed it up with 2 more years of playoff futility. It's up to them to shut the critics up.

^ Great post. Exactly how I view the situation.

Although they do have the '06 Super Bowl, this is not the same team. I'm doubtful they can get it done until I see results in the playoffs.

To some degree you may be right but last time I checked only 1 team can win the super bowl, the Colts are not the only good team in the playoffs. All you Colts haters keep saying except the 2006 super bowl, well you can't just take that out because it does not fit your arguement. The Colts won that super bowl rather you want to acknowledge it or not.

What has San Diego ever done in the playoffs?
