I think most of us can agree that Obama is on his way out... GOP is sometimes incompetent, but I don't think even they can screw this up...

So cast your votes now. Who will history be kinder to?

Never underestimate the GOP's ability to clank a fast break dunk off the rim. Nominees like Dole and McCain prove such.

McCain would destroy Obama if he ran again.. It's easy. Unless Obama does something awesome like legalize pot the day before the election:)crossfingers:), the young voters are not coming out. He's done.

McCain could maybe beat him, but none of the jokers who have declared so far, will. The independents and moderates are nervous about the Repubs right now.If Obama wins reelection the teaparty should get full credit.

I said Obama, simply because even republicans can admit that Bush wasn't a great president. I still can't get a dem to concede that their guy is just awful. They will argue a point even when the words they are saying make no sense.

Maybe beat him? McCain would smoke Obama if the race was held today. Freaking Mickey Mouse could beat Obama today. Indys care about the Jobs and Economy. Whatever Repub who puts out a plan that is different from printing money will get the Indys attention and win in a landslide

Unless the GOP field bulks up, nobody is winning in a landslide. Americans aren't exactly happy with either party, so it's going to take more than governing moral issues and the "liberals are bad" routine to win people over.

The answer is easy...historians like presidents that dealt with catastrophes (even if they caused them) and they like presidents who grew government. Historians really like charismatic leaders, so that's the tie-breaker giving Obama the edge.

Obama isn't winning any debates next year. His writers will have to put one big spin on it. I guess the "It was Bush's fault card will be out in mass". Might be best for him to have a few of his staged town hall discussions with a room full of mindless zombies that would cheer if he broke wind.

I would like to see history be completely fair and honest about both. Won't happen, though.

Obama. Mainly because he's not the reason why we're in Iraq and Afghanistan.

JFK and LBJ got us into Vietnam, which essentially created the modern left in this country, and they are considered saints to this day.

The US is still in Iraq and Afghanistan and is now fighting another shooting war in Libya, Gitmo is still open, and Obama extended the Bush tax rates and failed to enact single-payer healthcare.

Like VBH said, history will be kinder to Obama because of political correctness, not because he was the better president.

I had a history professor who gave complete passes to JFK and LBJ on Vietnam and torched Nixon for not getting out soon enough. He even started crying about his cousin dying in Vietnam. I sympathize, but why wasn't this speech made when we covered "getting into Vietnam"?
