Gruden
Petrino
Patterson
Roman
Strong
Smart
None of the above?
gundy?

I think Patterson

If I could pick anyone pipe dream or not, I would pick Carroll. Will never happen, but he would be who I would choose.

#2... Gruden

#3.... Gundy. (I have Patterson ahead of him whenever I talk about realistic choices), because he is more of a realistic candidate.

4..... Chip Kelly. Will never ever happen so that's why he is so low.

I know many threads of potential coaches, but I thought I would make a thread where we can talk about anyone without getting a tounge-lashing for posting who we want in other threads.

I want Gruden, but I am realistic. I would like to see other posters top 5.

To me this isn't going to end up with Gruden as our coach. Would most feel we struck out if it isn't Gruden?

Bash me for this thread if you want, I won't get mad. Just remember we are all Vol fans with the same goal. I'm the end, we just want to see our team at the top again. Lord knows it's been long enough.

I wouldn't pick anything that ever worked at souther cal! I'd give Dooley 1/2 of season next year then if we need change we make change! And we buy vandys coach! He is impressive! But I really think DD is not going anywhere!

Franklin has made Vandy a so so program. That's a huge compliment. Don't want Franklin. As far as Dooley getting another half year... Why? So he can lose the first 6 games, and reel in another sub par recruiting class just to be fired next year? No way. You cut your loses, and grind it out to find a proven coach that will wake this sleeping gain.

I have no reason for my list other than it's my list and I think they would work here. As far as being realistic, the only factor is that they're more than likely available.

1. Gruden
2. Reid
3. Patterson
4. Cowher
5. whoever is the HC at Maryville or Alcoa (ok this one's a joke)

No not really. I genuinely think Andy Reid has the stuff to do great things here. I wouldn't be upset with Patterson even a little bit though.

For some reason, I haven't really thought about this realistically because either way it's out of my hands. I'd love to see a Stoops or Gundy, but we may end up with a young up-and-comer. I'm kind of in the school of thought that a pile of elephant dung could do a better job than what we currently have.

The one thing I do know that keeping Dooley around is a terrible idea. I'm pretty sure Einstein said it, and it really applies here:

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

Young up and comer screams Smart. I don't think that's a possibility unless many turn us down. We don't need an up and comer. We need a guy that says this isn't a cone back. I have been here for years. To me. ,Patterson is that guy

I didn't say I wanted a young up and comer, but that may be where we end up. I hope not, but if it is, at least get someone out of a prestigious program and with something to show for it.

I read you loud and clear. I'm just saying I don't think they go the cheap route this time. If they do, that proves they no longer care about football on the hil. Just the money.

Sorry if I gave you the impression I thought you wanted smart.

No, you didn't give me that impression at all. It's funny though, this has pretty much been the only topic of conversation between my roommate and I since MSU and I'm now realizing that I really have no clue who I want that actually has a chance of coming. Guess I'm doing some research when I get home.

I hate that overused quote. That's not the damn definition of insanity! It's an example, maybe, but not the freaking definition. That quote gets credited to Einstein a lot, but I have my doubts if he ever said it.

Some of the posts wanting Gruden and Reid are way out there. Those guys aren't coming to NCAA

Yeah and who would want Reid anyway? Have they heard this guy talk? Does he really look like a guy that can relate to 18 year old kids? No thanks! Good grief!

Top 5 (whether or not realistic):

Gruden (not Jay)
Patterson
Stoops
Petrino (I don't care. I'm tired of losing.)
Petersen

Who I think we'll get: Charlie Strong

Gruden would be the greatest Christmas ever.

Agree on Carroll, would be great and I do not believe he was a part of the Bush thing. Plus I really liked what he was doing in the inner city with the homeless.

Kelly would excite me as much as any.

Patterson is most realistic I think. Seems like a SEC type of coach.

Eh ok let's see guy, Strong

He'll no guy, Smart.
