I think the coaches are really looking for some elusiveness. Tired of seeing the first guy through blowing up plays in the backfield.

I always thought from what I saw on the field that Larkins could be good if he ever decided to practice, too. Looks like the coaches finally got through to him.

I agree. Anything is better than what we have seen the past couple of years. I do have to lay some of the blame on the O-line though. It's just hard to believe that Ced is only about 1500 yards from being our all time leading rusher and may end up third or fourth string. I just can't seem to get past that.

That is very odd. One thing to remember, though is that Ced has been around awhile. Most of the guys at the top of that list did not have the opportunities that he has had, save for the Travis', of course. Most of those guys, like Jamal or Charlie Garner, were only here a few years.

I don't see Houston coming close to that 1500 yard mark, however.

If we have a 1,000 yard rusher, I doubt it will be him.

I agree in that I don't thiink he has any chance to get it. I think somebody is gonna rush for 1000 this year though. Wouldn't you love it to be Yancey?

Looks like Riggs may get the start. I think that Larkins is coming along better than Houston or Davis. Yancey is still solid, while the freshman Foster impressed Fulmer.

i like the idea of running by committee for us. we can keep guys fresh so every rush could be positive yardage or beter.

That sounds good but most backs need to get in a groove and the only way they do that is by touching the ball thats hard to do if you're running too many horses out of the stable.

I agree, if you've got a bunch of backs who can't product immediately, but need a few carries to get going.... then the running back by committee only averages around 130 yards per game.... like last year.

Exactly...It is not like these guys aren't in shape...It is not like the running back is the only guy in the game...all positions exert energy... but yeah the back breaks a long run...then bring in someone to let him catch his wind...but get him back in the game...the more touches the better feel he will have in the game....

As for a starter... You guys are going to laugh... In the orange and white game I like the looks of Yancy ... he was able to miss tackles fit thru closing holes and at the same time find holes... I think Rigs would be a good follow up back...

This is a hard one because I think Ced, J-Train, Larkin would start for another team...

Man the more I write this ... the more I HATE this question... LOL ah crap lets just run the dead I or bone .... upback (J-train/ced) halfback (yancy/larkin) halfback/fullback (rigs/larkin) Quaterback Brent... Run the option/ Mid line/ PA Pass... and prey our speedy QB doesn't get killed)
:D :D :D :D

Vinny,
I am digging that picture on your posts.

With all the detractors and those that didn't like Casey Clausen, that play demonstrated that he was one touch SOB.

You have to have a starter that will clearly run all over the defense. Then use a change of pace type back.

That would be a great story.

I doubt he'll get alot of carries, but I would like to see him get some quality pt.
