I'd say Strong---he's respected--he meets all the criteria--he basically succeeds at everything Dooley failed in.

Patterson
Gundy

I think both transition well to the SEC. Patterson would bring a defensive staff and Gundy would bring an offensive staff. I would almost want to keep Chaney/Pitt/JG on offense with Patterson.

Patterson would make the most sense, but I think he would not cut his guys loose and we would be taking his staff as is. Where as I could see Gundy willing to hire better defensive assistants.

Shaw would be my pick. Probably another unrealistic choice but if I were the AD, I'd at least give him a call and text him a picture of me standing inside a stacked bank vault

I`ve been saying Strong since October. I got caught up in the "100%done" Gruden deal bs too. Strong is 100%. He will do better than Grude, imo. Excellent recruiter, motivator, and defensive genius. Go Vols!!!

Why in God's name would we want Strong here?

Why wouldn't we? I think the list of qualities FOR Strong are pretty long. SEC experience as a coordinator (a great one with Florida)---great recruiting skills---turned Louisville around in 3 seasons---that article about Dooley and His recruiting--yeah Charlie Strong is the opposite of that IMO.

You bring Gundy with his OC from Ok St and retain Pittman and Graham. Have Randy Shannon as the DC and Kevin Steele as the LB coach. Get Dale Cater back here to coach DBs and lets start kicking ass again.

Has O'Brien been dismissed as a possibility? Cant remember if I read about a huge buyout with him or something...

Oh, so he was a good coordinator and led Louisville in a weak conference to winning records?

Hire him as the Defensive coordinator.

The crazy part of alot of these names is alot of people feel you get what you pay for. Dooley was next to last in the SEC in money. Depending on what UK pays Stoops, Strong, Fedora, Golden, Petrino, and most options people think are realistic would still have UT next to last or last in HC salary in the SEC.

Just something to think about.
