I was watching the game with some friends and enjoying it. One of my friends said, "I hate when the other team gets the ball back with 2 minutes left and we have to stop them." I thought about this and said, "Would you rather have our defense out there to stop them or our offense out there having to score to win?"

This is a year where I'm much more comfortable with our defense having to make a stop. The game plan to limit Alabama was amazing and the execution was even better. Hopefully we can keep Tim Banks but I doubt it after this year.

Obviously I'm happy with the outcome. But sampson got 8 yards in 2 runs. I wanted them to run in and kill the clock. I guess I'm used to us not having a defense that I have faith in 😅

Happy with the outcome and Josh is a great coach. I will say though going conservative and trying to burn clock cost us in the Arkansas game; also allowed Florida to go down and tie. Probably still was the best play there given the offensive struggles but I would love for them to go for the throat.

Oline though is starting to gel a bit. Nico may have grown a little bit. There’s a very real chance this team gets hot at the right time and could win it all.

I’m an offensive guy. I hate letting other teams control the outcome. The conservative play will bite us eventually. However, the D is definitely the better unit on the field right now.

Conservative on the last series….but then again we were running it down their throats…I wouldn’t say giving Sampson the ball could be labeled conservative.

It is when everyone in the stadium knew what was coming. He did run a play to a TE at one point though if I remember right. Damn brain, lungs, throat and ears were assaulted last night and I wouldn’t change a thin.

It’s the definition of conservative when they know it’s coming. Sampson is great. But when it’s expected and we run 3 times into a stacked box just to punt with tons of time left…..conservative.

I don’t think they were particularly conservative yesterday. Took several shots down field almost every possession.

At the end it was just smart to keep the ball on the ground. Force them to burn their TOs. Especially since we were already in FG range.

Drunk goober behind me was losing his mind we didn’t go for it there. There is a reason fans are in the stands on not the sidelines 🤦‍♂️

That possession I completely agree. The possession where they ran three times into a stacked box and punted back to them with 4-5 min remaining id of liked to seen them try to get a 1st and seal it.

I love watching this defense play, and watching them smother opponents, but what I'd love more is to see us kill the clock when we get it back with the lead and a few minutes left.

I don't blame Josh for the conservative play calling in those situations, as the idea is to burn clock and/or the opponents' timeouts. What I want to see is the OL knocking guys off the ball and being able to pick up a couple of first downs with power football in those spots, not needing any fancy play calls or gambles. The defense put you in a position to finish, so finish it for them.

The next of the last series… we ran 40 sec off the clock and they burned their timeouts so I’m good with it. Not arguing here but imo good coaching the way our D was playing

This is the first year we have been really good on defense. We still have better offenses to play. Hopefully we fair just as well. Regardless, I don’t see him finding the same job he would find if he stuck around and put a couple more big seasons together. I think Golesh would have faired better had he done the same.

Going for the throat when you can't reach it exposes you to body blows. Smart move by the coach to protect his team. The Arkansas game was lost on a ****ed up play on a punt block attempt. We had em...
