What if we had a time each game where the entire stadium sang the entirety of Rocky Top—start with the banjo intro—and it cuts off as the first verse starts and we just let it rip.

I think it would be one of the greatest spectacles in sports. We could have the stadium display the lyrics, and then the music cuts back on for the Let’s go U-T! Part,

I think it would be something no one else has that sounds like something in a soccer stadium. Would love it for it to be in the middle of the 3rd quarter.

On the opposing teams first offensive possession.

Getting 100 people tondo something simultaneously for 3 minutes is an undertaking that is difficult.

100,000? Forget about it.

Besides...almost none know and few enjoy the entire song.

Many stadiums do the sing alongs every game with the same song for every game. It’s kind of an atmosphere.

Even if we got 20,000 people singing Rocky Top it would be something unlike anywhere else in football. Especially with the opposing team having the ball.

We already do it, just the chorus only.

And the spectacle is absolutely terrifying. Greatest tradition in college football.

So what you’re saying…is that…we don’t actually do it? But we sort of do it half way?

Im saying we sing the entire song on the opposing teams first posession of the 2nd half. And when the Let’s GO U-T part hits; it would be epic every time.

lol seriously. Few enjoy the entire song? What is this guy smoking? Lol….so many goons here.

So next game you attend ... ask everyone at your p one verse of the song.

I dont smoke anything but victory cigars these days.
Believe what you will but very very few Vol fans can tolerate the genre and only "enjoy" the chorus of Rocky Top.

Tolerate the genre? Wtf are you talking about yo??? We’re in East Tennessee. It’s part of the fabric of what makes this place unique. And I say that as an alum from the northeast.

The first time I heard the song—I legit never heard of Rocky Top. This dude from west Tennessee who lived on my floor at Andy holt (rip) took me to what was the chilis on the strip and they started playing this blue grass song, and i said Matty—what is this redneck ****??? And he said: “yankee, you never heard Rocky Top before? Oh you’re gonna wanna listen to this song.”

Matty was def right.

In 97, Chubby Checker got the entire stadium to sing and do his famous hit "The Twist". I was in the south endzone and everyone I could see, for as far as I could see, was twisting their buns off. You could feel the whole stadium shaking. My mom still talks about it.

I think you are greatly underestimating the fan base.

Born and bred hillbilly with musical roots deep in Bluegrass. Have attended many BG festivals in my life and when i look around i realize they have about another 15 years until they arent viable anymore because im one of the youngest people there.

Pull out a bg album (old or new) and play it at a tailgate/party/whatever. It will get shutfown fairly quickly.

OP might be on to something. I have heard the entire stadium sing Friends in Low places all the way through several times.

As long as we are having flights of fancy, what can be substituted for the girly "Woo!"? Vols?
Win?
I think it needs to be one syllable; but begone with the Woo!

I am pretty excited about everything, but let's slow down just a little with the fan pushes. Like 3rd down for what, it can be a bit much. It's been a packed year already and apparently, there is a game with Orange helmets that I am sure will spark fan ideas like orange out.

There's no way 100,000 people will stay on the same page without any sound to keep them in unison. To do this, you'd have to have a recorded band play the entire song with lyrics, and the lyrics would be shown on the jumbo trons simultaneously to keep everyone together.
