Got into an interesting conversation with a friend of mine. He swears Eli is better. What say you VN?


(I obviously argued Peyton)

Honestly can't tell you without seeing Peyton return to form. Peyton's coming off major surgery and is in his decline years. Eli is in his prime, but is not really in the same tier as Peyton in his prime. With the uncertainty with Peyton, I would without question trade Peyton for Eli (to get Eli). But if we are talking about a SB run for one season, same teams, I'm not sure.

Peyton. You can probably count on one hand the players in NFL history whose mere presence on their team was the difference between Superbowl contenders and high draft pick.

If I was down by 4 points with 2 minutes left in a championship game and had to choose one of the two I would probably pick Eli.

Not really a stout WR group if you ask me.

2007's group wasn't much better Burress, Tyree, Toomer & Boss

You've got to be kidding, right? Second best group of WR's in NFL (GB).

Agreed on the 2007 group, but they were much more about the running game.

Idk. Wayne, Garcon, Tamme, & Clark are just as good as anything Eli has had to work with as far as receivers go. Eli definitely has had more help from his D and running game

I was strictly talking WR's but those are valid points. Garcon is overrated, IMO. He makes an amazing play, and then he drops a crucial 3rd down pass when he's wide open, and subsequently the Colts completely fall apart. I'm talking about the Super Bowl. Garcon is good, but he drove me nuts with his unpredictability.I feel the same way about Clark.

Wayne is older, but still pretty good. I'd much rather have Cruz, though. Tamme is the guy I think is underrated.

I don't care that Eli doesn't have much of a TE, there's something special about having 3 guys that could be legitimate #1s.

I don't know if Manningham is anywhere close to a #1, I guess we'll see what his numbers look like after a year with Alex Smith. Hicks was having problems with drops until the middle of last season, then it seemed like he caught any and everything.

He is the #1, right? Are people thinking Crabtree is the #1?

Personal best seasons:

Manningham - 60 catches, 944 yards, 9 TD's (4 years of experience)
Crabtree - 72 catches, 874 yards, 4 TD's (3 years of experience)

I'll take Manningham.
