One of them won the award for best college player at their position, you can look up who was who.

We got Smith, Jackson, and Dobson coming in. Mix them with Staley and Matthews makes a good core of young capable receivers.

That’s why losing White isn’t a big factor, along with the others so far in the portal. We have a bunch of backups playing starters. I’ll exclude Bru as he’s a #3 playing as a #2.

If we had plans to upgrade it would’ve already happened. I don’t want to hear “there’s still a spring window” either. Because that limits us to non SEC players only and they’ll only have summer camp to learn the offense and climb the depth chart too. Which really does us no good for 2025. Unless they manage to land Concepcion or the Branch brothers they pretty much just gave Boo Squirrel’s starting job to keep him here

Lol. Bru, Thornton, and Brazzell all
came from the portal. This year they apparently all sucked and there’s definitely at least one common denominator that so many have an excuse for. But now squirrels leaving because of “competition” or an “upgrade”.

Having serviceable backups that can push your starters to be better and provide depth is what makes a WR room great. Brazzell, Matthews, Staley, and Boo have absolutely zero competition next year for reps outside of true freshmen, and they’ve all seen how difficult it is to lose playing time to true freshmen at the WR spot and have likely already gotten their 6 or even 7 figure pay days. Who is going to push them to be the best they can be?

I would personally rather see them get a utility guy that’s shown he can play. Unless Bru or Thornton returns. Because I think they both have another year of eligibility remaining. I would feel a lot better about our WR room knowing we have someone outside of Brazzell with SEC experience

Squirrel wasn't the same after his injury. Nimrod tried to take his place and faltered. Matthews, Webb and Staley never developed quite fast enough. As far as Donte and Brazzell, they showed up every now and then. They were somewhat useable. Bru was Bru. Vols had 3 serviceable bodies at TE (Staes, Davis and "K") and didn't use them well enough, because they'd rather throw a WR screen. Then.....everybody started getting hurt and nobody stepped up. That has to fall clearly on the shoulder of the Developers. And now you see no WR Room, No RB Room and a QB with a field general IQ just a little bit higher than Joe Milton (who avoided a sack by throwing the ball away on 4th Down.) The future looks bright if you can do a rapid reload and protect Nico long enough to find the open man.

Thought I read where Bru was granted another year and I know Donte only redshirted one year and was enrolled in 2020. So that redshirt year doesn’t count against his eligibility

Our wrs probably have the highest drop rate in the country. Last year we blamed Milton for throwing missiles. This year they continue to drop and still cant get open. Squirrel has gotten worse. I think most of us expected more from him this year. For some reason, almost, if not all his catches were body catches and immediately falling to three ground. REGRESSION
