Why are we playing LSU twice now?

In past years, we only played them once. I assume the SEC office saw how much we struggle with them so decided to make us play them a second time.

TN plays KY, USCe, and Vandy twice every year. The other 2 home/away matchups are on a rotating basis with the other 10 teams.

Seems like a good setup to me; more potential victories against KY and then 4 games against lambs to the slaughter

I just hope we find a way to win against LSU this time. It would be a quality win overall and help us with the conference record.

All 10 SEC teams played home and home before USCe and Ark joined the conference. That's the original reason for 18 conference games. It gave us the opportunity to hate on Dale Brown and LSU in Stokely every year.

Yes. 18 games when there were 10 teams. For a while, they played 5 division opponents twice every year and the other side 6x for a total of 16 games when there were 12 teams in the conference. The 3 permanent opponents were set starting with 2015-16. So this is year 7 of rotating 2 of the other 10 while keeping 3 permanent home-away rivals.

Will the SEC keep this format after Oklahoma and Texas join in a few years?

I don’t think they’ve decided in either sport whether to have 2 divisions or even 4. I’d like to see (at least in football) Bama and Barn moved to the east and send Missouri to the west with Texas and OK.

This is the pod system that seems to have been discussed the most. It would suck in football and seemingly also in hoops, although it may not have as much impact for the latter.

If we do, it will mark a big turnaround in the ability to score, show sighs of aggressiveness that's been lacking inside and really good bench support. (which has been pretty good anyway).
