I like it too, but when was the last time you watched a women's game that didn't involve us?

Hey, I watched the Baylor/Georgia game that was on the other day.

I'm with ya, though. I wish they televised them more. Even on ESPN Plus....

If they can air bowling tournaments and hot dog eating contests...they can air women's basketball.

OWB had a great idea about a Tennessee television network.
Wish I was rich, I'd back it.

Lady Vols are still on more than any other ladies program out there...plus heck even the UT mens bball program brings in more money..it's just the nature of the beast.

Isn't that truly incredible that they'll air a TAPED scrabble tourney before a nationally recognized and ranked ladies BB game?

I'll be honest with ya... I follow the Lady Vols and keep up with the scores of their games and whatnot... but about the only game of theirs I will attempt to watch during the regular season is against UConn.

Hopefully a LSU/UT game will be on TV somewhere, I'd watch that one as well this season.

Part of the problem is that we're just too good to show many of the early ones. Who besides us want to watch Sheena kick Little Orphan Annie's rear up and down the court for a couple of hours?

Because it's women's basketball!! Nationally, people don't care.

And they care about a Scrabble tournament? :dunno:

No, but the rights fees for a Scrabble tournament are a lot less and the ad rates are probably not much worse.

Here's your answer. Why would the broadcast what they know will be a blowout. I'm not sure a blowout against a poor womens team would help the perception of womens basketball.

That's true. It wouldn't help the perception of the women's game...a game that's perceived to have no parity. But, then again, why do they televise football games that they know will be blowouts?

I understand what you all are saying completely. In fact, I even agree. I'm just trying to be the devil's advocate here. :wink2:

At the risk of forever being banned, I'll relay a friend's observation to me about women's basketball (WNBA or college).

He says the only way that it will ever bring in enough revenue to pay for itself is if they hose the girls down before the game and play it on ice.

Don't kill me, LIO, I'm just the messenger.

We are getting at that point where we can choose any sports program and watch either through some subscription service or via the internet.
Check out http://www.mediazone.com

My wife is a kiwi ( New Zealander) and we really love to watch the All Blacks play rugby. They are as passionate as the Vol fans. We are able to watch them live via internet half way around the world. So if we can watch the mighty All Blacks play live on the internet, then you should be able to watch the Lady Vols one day. It is only a matter of time.

Asking MemphisVol what he is talking about is futile. Half the time I don't even think HE knows what he's talking about.

Luv ya Memphis.

Basically, we're such a profoundly anal culture we practically pucker ourselves inside out- given that, imagine a U.S. sports team called "The All Blacks" and/ or who and why they were formed.... so many wonderful possibilities.

Alternately, just imagine your All Blacks doing a tourney tour of the U.S. like teams from other countries in other sports do (assuming they're rugby or soccer, not aussie rules football). We'd end up with this wonderfully spastic free for all of protests and counter protests from about 30 different nitwit angles. It would be like Monty Python Meets the Three Stooges.... In fact, we ought to take up a collection; I wonder how much it would cost...?

Exactly memphis. The All Blacks also perform a ritual dance before kickoff call the haka which is a war dance by the natives, The Maouri.
Imagine performing a tribal dance by a bunch of white males for an american team call the all blacks. AHHHH No. The NAACP the The Indian Groups (whatever they are called ) will ask for a boycott and demand a public apoligy along with sensitivity training.
now back to lady vol basketball.....
