Thompson-Boling, was it a schlong contest with KY? I mean, that place leaves me cold, Stokely was old but it had charm and a certain warmth to it. And a rubber floor. :disappointed:

The outside looks like some kind of beige convention center.

I dunno, maybe it's just me but 16,000 seats, maybe 18,000 would have been planty, K'Ville is an OK bball town not a great one, even when we had 20 win seasons we averaged, what, 15,000?

My favorite are the 4 "point" seats in the corners. You know, the ones were the row consists of one seat. Perfect for the lonely fan.

Maybe, don't expect so, especially with this year's team which will suck mightily.

If anyone can fill it, Pearl can.

Yes it was a "schlong" contest with UK.

That's what I remember, we were filling Stokely (12,500?) and then all of a sudden, KY builds, then we get on a twit and double our capacity. I'm thinking, what?

We were filling it a few years ago when we were in the top 25 for a while. I esp remember the florida game.

TB is going to change and lose a bunch of seats. May take 3 or 4 years but it will happen. Skyboxes in TB

We've never filled that aluminum barn with any regularity. The attendance figures are skewed by announcing "tickets sold", instead of the turnstile count.

I heard that then it dropped off the radar.

I remember Devoe was the Coach then, and he really pushed for a new Arena to help recruiting. When they finally decided to build it was some of the big buck boosters and Tn legislature that insisted that it be bigger than Rupp.

Thinking with your small head there, weren't they? :banghead:

T-B reminds me of a $750,000 house with hollow core doors, all size, not much quality. :fool:

Been agreed to by the University with CBP. To provide him with skyboxes and a practice facility but fans have to contribute before it can happen so he has to win.

I personally think it is so big that it sometimes works to our disadvantage since it is never full.

So do I which is why I started this thread. Bigger isn't always better.

Ask my wife. :eek:lol: :mf_surrender:

It was planned during the Ernie & Bernie Show, when we beat UK 5 times straight, when Stokely was overflowing and people lined up for tickets. It was also envisioned as a convocation center, in which the U could seat every student for important assemblies.

I sat at the very, very, very top of Thompson Boling Arena. The highest seats are above the lights and scoreboard. There were birds and bats flying around me.

Trivia questions:
1. Does anybody remember the construction troubles of the place?
2. Which Tenn. contractor took over the construction after the original contractor quit before construction was finished?
