I don't understand why these Alabama rednecks think that program is so appealing to other coaches. They done Shula wrong and this should be a red flag for any coach that is not in the Alabama "Family." Moving to Alabama from another SEC school is nothing more than a lateral move. Alabama is not what they once were and these Alabama idiots can not understand that The Bear is dead, rotted and gone forever. Get a clue ALA-BAMA.

The Alabama coaching job is pretty appealing to most coaches who aren't with a major progam. With Bama's history, facilities, and being in the SEC... I'd say it's a desired job by many.

Another thing to consider is the competitive nature and egos that many D1A caliber head coaches posses. There are some who would probably like to go just to see if they can ride the tiger (elephant) without getting thrown off or eaten.

i think that is a very good point hillbilly. while it's easy for us to now be able to say "it's just bama".. a lot of people in this world can still hear the name "bama" and think of all the glory. and spurrier could easily sell recruits on what bama was and how he, with their help, is going to get bama back there.

...and we ALL know that Spurrier doesn't possess an ego!

:eek:k: I've posted it here before and I'll say it again. Ever since Urban Meyer spurned Notre Dame and Steve Spurrier took the South Carolina job, I've quit trying to predict who is going where and why.

you can find great facilities almost anywhere nowadays and good money also. And in other divisions you have a better chance of a NC or at least a BCS bowl.

Urban Meyer clones seek coaching positions
(AP) Gainesville, Fla - Geneticists at the University of Florida have successfully cloned Urban Meyer, the self-proclaimed genius of college football and the copies are now proclaiming themselves ready for their first head coaching positions.

DNA extracted from the second-year Gator football coach last year was placed into embryonic sheep cells and incubated for several months. Once the cells inherited the genetic footprint completely, human growth hormone (HGH) was injected to artificially age the clones to the age of forty. Coach Meyer then imparted his vast knowledge of football to them in a series of nightly seminars and last week declared them "official offensive geniuses".

Urban number two has been in communication with officials at the University of Alabama and athletic director Mal Moore is "very impressed with the candidate". The second copy of Meyer has been wooed by the University of Miami regarding their vacancy and appears to be the leading candidate at the moment.

Urban number four, while having some obvious mental deficiencies, is also searching for a position and has expressed interest in the Auburn program. When told that the Tigers' coaching position was presently filled, number four replied "I like pizza... I LIKE IT!!!" AU trustee Bobby Lowder was very impressed with the ambitious number four and proclaimed him a "true Auburn man."
