Why does every SEC team think they're UTs super bowl?

I have a few friends that are UK fans and they keep saying they're our super bowl. Aren't we like 86-26 against them? USC fans said the same thing last year because they wore the dark mode unis, I just want to know why these delusional fanbases think this lol
Because anybody can beat Bama. But it takes something special to beat UT!

I think it is probably usually a case of transference.

They feel these things (like the upcoming game is the highlight of their season, their super bowl) and so they assume we must feel the same. They transfer their feelings onto us.

It's some psychobabble bs, but I think it may actually be real here.

Go Vols!

2 programs coping with the fact that we consistently beat them while we sucked.

didn't you answer your own question? 86-26 so yeah, they get excited to try and beat Tennessee. They always hope they can beat Tennessee as do several others.

Why do we feel like beating Alabama is our super bowl?

We are the Cinderella team. And we've owned them for decades. It's only natural for this to be the biggest game for them. I hope Vols come out clicking. Even though UK isnt as flashy with the offensive stats, I'm expecting a shootout- same as last year.

The problem with those guys is they have the right statement just roles reversed. We are their Super Bowl and have been for decades Vandy, UK and to a lesser extent USCe. Even more so in the past 2 decades because they felt like they had some hope. In fact...

Since 1985 Kentucky has beaten UT 3 times... all 3 happened during the lost decade 2010-2020. that decade between 2010 and 2020 got them thinking they had a chance.
Since 1983 Vanderbilt has beaten UT 6 times 5 of those happened during that lost decade also. Going back further Since 1965 they have 8 wins and 1 tie. Before 1965 Vandy/UT and UK/UT were actually back-and-forth rivalries.

I point this out because that pre-65 era might be what is stuck in their heads.

South Carolina and Uts history is a lot more interesting... Since 2005 its been back and forth 9-8. Before then we dominated them between 1903 and 2004 they won 2 and tied 2 and we won 19.

So yeah we are their Superbowl.

Nah, they’re actually just low football IQ self deluded morons. Trust me, I live in Kentucky.

We have to go through them to get to Atlanta. We need to win in Atlanta to make the playoffs.

If they were in the west they would be the same as Arkansas or Ms St.

I will take it a step further, they somehow see us as one of their top two rivals, somehow… So therefore we must all feel the same

Just remind Kentucky fans that during the worst 11 years in program history, they won a massive 3 games. Literally. They are and always have been nothing more than a stepping stone. Remind them that they aren't even worth worrying about historically.
