...to field a football team?..

TFP:APR nets UTC postseason ban

The NCAA Division I Committee on Academic Performance has banned the team from the 2009 postseason for failing to meet the NCAA’s multi-year Academic Progress Rate standards, athletic director Rick Hart said Wednesday. In addition to the postseason ban, the program will also lose 3.15 scholarships for next season and four hours of team time (both practice and games) per week.

Well, that sure lessens the pressure on Huesman.

Think of the money that could've been saved if they had yanked athletics like they talked about doing last year. I feel bad for whathisname who stepped in to run Finley Stadium. Gotta be a nightmare announcement for him.

(I can't open the article, so if my comments are stupid don't hold it against me.)

Chattanooga is a pretty cool town IMO and the stadium is great. I went on two unofficial visits there for football and I can't figure out why they can't make it work.

Pretty sure the main reason they built that stadium was for the D-2 National Championship game.

Well, in any event, Coleman will save them.

Chattanooga is actually in a very good spot geographically to pull in recruits. That academic program was run into the ground by poor decision making.

It really wasnt that long that Marshall and UTC were battling it out every year for the Conference championship in basketball yet Marshall was the school to go on to do bigger and better things. Followed by the sweet 16 and the new stadium and they just continued to go backwards.

Does anyone have a picture of the old football stadium? Im kinda curious to see how big of a dump it was.
