Why ESPN?

I saw that earlier but then I realized that I am a regular on this site and that there is nothing on ESPN that VolNation would miss. No worries

That is why I asked even our boards are better than theirs. Now you can't even see the team commit list. The information they are hiding now is free on Rivals and Scout. ESPN just shows what they don't know.

I think they are trying to capture the more casual recruiting observer, if that exists...otherwise why would they be affiliated with a place (volnation), that is offering their paid content for free?

I have never been a fan of ESPN and the whole Insider thing. But now they are acting like their site is the only one with this kind of info. Screw ESPN and the horse they rode in on

I'm not a huge fan of ESPN either, but they see a growing revenue stream possibility in the surge in the number of people that follow recruiting and wish to capitalize on it. It's disappointing to say the least, but with ad revenues falling in general and the rising cost of doing business with the contracts needed to televise events they are going to search for revenue however they can find it. But, if their website traffic falls, then and only then will they be forced to re-evaluate. Rivals and Scout make a good deal of money off of their premium content, and ESPN wanted a piece of that action can't blame them, much as I wish I could. What I think is most disappointing is that you cannot even view the commitment lists any longer, that is ridiculous, all the other sites at least make that free.

I have never been one to visit ESPN.com. I usually hit up one of the other sports sites.

I think they over did this. You cannot even click on a school to see thier commits. It's not like ESPN is dominating recruiting coverage. At least on rivals and scout you can see most things for free just not articles and more important info.

The more I see ESPN's recruiting coverage, the more I rely on Rivals and knowledge from our recruiting experts here.
