Why is Coach Pearl appearing before the Tennessee

That's what people do when they come to Nashville. You didn't know?

Yes, it is mandatory that everytime you come here, you go before the legislature.

I have to do it everyday they are in session. LOL

The allusion is that it has to do with his new contract... then again, knowing him, Coach Pearl scheduled the visit himself to get the legislature amped up about the Vols. :biggrin2:

I thought since there are a ton of UT fans there, that might be reason enough.Recognition maybe.Well, they are in Nashville for the tourney too. I remember I had a friend that worked with the sec. of state for Tennessee and his seats were in the skybox (for whatever reason) plus privliged parking spots (of course).

Pat Summit does it every year pretty much. Fulmer has done it in the past. Other coaches and teams also do it from time to time. They will show up, probably with a few players, and the celrk will read a resolution or proclamation congratulating them on their season.

Yeah, he'll get a proclamation and it's a good photo op for all of the politicians running for election to have a picture with Bruce Pearl on their campaign mailings or big office photo. You know....feed the egos of the politicians. Plus it wouldn't hurt Pearl to make friends with some important leaders as well.

"It's going to take three wins to win a championship," Pearl said in speech on the House floor. "And I think we're in a position to do so."

He showed up with Mike Hamilton and another UT person, no players. They congratulated him on the regular season in each house and I think there was a congratulatory joint resolution. Hamilton joked about CBP sweating at the UF game. CPB made a few remarks. He said UT will finish in the top 5 for college basketball attendance with an average over 18,000 per game.

I feel sure he lobbied them to be season ticket holders next year! :clapping:
They all get free tickets to every home game, and good seats at that. It is customary for the members to pay the face value of the tickets when they pick them up though.
