Tennessee is ranked #5 in Team Punt Return stats with 19 returns for 322 yards yielding a 16.95 yard average per return.

So how does Dee Williams does not appear among the top 45 players in the Individual Punt Return statistics? There are players in that list with only 12 returns, so it's not that his body of work is too small.

According to Fox Sports, Dee has 14 returns this season for 272 yards. That would be 19.43 yards per return -- better than the NCAA's #1 ranked Gould from Oregon State who's averaging 18.2 yards per return.

What am I missing?

It would have to be 9 games as Dee was in 8 and they do have someone on the list with 9 games.

Well, that is a logical deduction---though I wonder what the NCAA's logic would be to regard number of games over number of returns. (As if some school is gonna use their best returner for only the eight easiest teams on their schedule?!!)

But--hey--"NCAA Logic" could be the title of an Escher drawing.

Yeah, he falls short in both of those. Games like USC and Alabama where there was not a lot of punting by the enemy didn't help.
Way to go get the answer.

So, they are saying, "It's the defense's fault."
Sorry ... I'm in a 'mood' today!

Sens ro me 8 if 12 games is 75% and 14 returns in 8 games is well over 1.2 rpg, closer to 2 than 1.2

Another question could be , why did he not get more opportunities at CB ? Considering the deficiencies and injuries at CB . I thought that's what he was brought in from JC for ? Heck of a punt returner !

It doesn't help when your team decides not to try to catch or return punts as often as the Vols have lately.
