Why is everyone so worried about Cutcliff leaving after a year? I hope he doesn't leave but I will take one good year with him over another bad year without him. I honestly think Fulmer has learned from his mistakes and won't make them again. If he does then it will be him looking for a new job.

I think its great that Cutcliffe is back. I just hate to have him back only for a year and then we are back trying to find another OC. yeah it would be great to have a couple winning seasons versus another losing season, but I think it would be better if he was here for a long time. who knows maybe he will want to stay for a while longer than his 2 year contract.

I have no idea. I keep saying this over and over, but Assistants move around all the time.

With a two year contract he's here for that long. Hopefully he'll like it here long enough to stick around. I think by moving here before getting this job shows he likes the place. I'm sure he's probably nervous about the recurring health issues that could pop up as well.

If we can keep the Uhauls out of his driveway then he might decide to stay a while.

assistant coaches are like high school jrs our program will go on with or without them, I approve of the hire of Cut but if he moves on to greener pastures after next yr so be it.

Well, depending on who the other assistants are, I am still a little worried about the heir apparent. Someone like Kippy Brown or another young whipper snapper is necessary, else CPF will have to have another search in a year or two -- this time without his best friend and same-system guy living in the same town without a job.

I may be crazy, but after the way he was run by Ole Miss, I'd like to see him be a highly succesful OC for two years and then land another head coaching job at a major school. He deserves a second chance.

he has done something right in his career,  Charlie Weiss wanted him to coach his QBs

Not only that but the Heisman candidates and NFL players he's produced.....

I agree totally. I think he will be successful and use it as another spring board to be HC somewhere else. He definately has shown he knows how to coach.

u are right exactly, if he turns this offense around in one year he will be wanted by plenty of schools.

Think he will be in Knoxville until his kids graduate high school. If I heard right that should put him on market in a couple years like we think.

I read a quote somewhere where they said they wouldnt want an assistant coach who didn't have aspirations to be a head coach or to advance. Do you really want an assistant coach who doesnt believe he is good enough to be a HC somewhere?? I dont. I hope he gets a HC coach opportunity in a couple of years.

You know, it just all depends on what a particular person wants out of life and where they want to be...this might just end up being what Cutt wants and K-town might just end up being where he wants to be...It is not like the man is only 30 years old, you know...

And has anybody thought about this:

What if he sticks around long enough, and as the fulmer bashers mount....what if the new/old OC is though to be the better candidate for HC??? could we be seeing the beginnings of the new regime at UT?

Eveyone already says he's a great coach and deserves another shot....who says it won't be here.....Maybe CPF gets the ship righted over the next couple of years and decides to ride off in to the sunset as the new AD, and CDC is promoted???

My thought is that now we have neamed him OC - what else is there to talk about until Recruiting gets underway and spring practice.

How will recruits, especially QBs, view a 2 yr deal? With the QBs we currently have, It would probably be 2 yrs before they would see any planning time.

does any think maybe one of the new guys that we hire could possible be a replacement for Cutcliffe if he happens to leave

His motivation to become a head coach again will help him succeed here next year.

This is right on target. I think having heart problems and then being home with the family has made him re-think life a bit.
