I don't understand why james franklin is getting a lot of attention from these schools. Vandy is in the SEC, they should win 6 games a year, they can schedule 5 out of conference games which means they have to win 1. If your school is in the sec you should be able to recruit in football, no problem. Just like ACC in basketball. I hope he gets a gravy job like USC or Texas and completely bombs their program. Other than beating Derick dooley(everybody did), He hasn't shown me anything except he can take a SEC school to a small bowl. Now if he were to take vandy to a bcs game, that would be different, but dudes a loser if u ask me.

....because you're talking about him. Other than that, I haven't heard one word about him except how good of a QB he was for Missouri. :dunno:

I hope they take him, the same way they got Kiffin. Serves their fan base right. But from what I've heard, if they hire one of the names floating around, then they might as well kept Kiffin. I just don't see a Franklin team beating Oregon. Ever.

With Georgia, Texas A & M, and Florida looming on deck, Franklin is staring an 0-6 SEC start squarely in the face, with Tennessee and Kentucky left to salvage some sense of respectability. If Pat Haden is foolish enough to hire Franklin in the aftermath of such a performance, he truly deserves what he gets.

Yeah, there's over 100 years of Vandy football prior to Franklin that disproves this.

Franklin has only been mentioned as a "possible" candidate by the media. Just like Gruden was a "possible" candidate for the TN job. No way USC hires Franklin from a mediocre Vanderbilt team. Go back and look at who they beat last year in their so-called miracle season.

08/30/12 vs. South Carolina * TV Nashville L, 17-13
09/08/12 at Northwestern TV Evanston, Ill. L, 23-13
09/15/12 vs. Presbyterian TV Nashville W, 58-0
09/22/12 at Georgia * TV Athens, Ga. L, 48-3
10/06/12 at Missouri * TV Columbia, Mo. W, 19-15
10/13/12 vs. Florida * TV Nashville L, 31-17
10/20/12 vs. Auburn * TV Nashville W, 17-13
10/27/12 vs. Massachusetts TV Nashville W, 49-7
11/03/12 at Kentucky * TV Lexington, Ky. W, 40-0
11/10/12 at Ole Miss * TV Oxford, Miss. W, 27-26
11/17/12 vs. Tennessee * TV Nashville W, 41-18
11/24/12 at Wake Forest TV Winston-Salem, N.C. W, 55-21
12/31/12 vs. NC State TV Nashville W, 38-24

Please show me one decent win. Was it beating a terrible TN team? Maybe it was beating mighty NC State in Nashville in a bowl game. You remember NC State right? That's the team TN beat on a neutral field to open the season. The only one thinking USC will even sniff Franklin is Franklin himself.

I hope someone takes him out of Nashville! USC would deserve him, but they'll get someone better than him!

WOW,,, I never realized that they've won that many games. 558 games won in 121 years, that 4.6 wins per year. amazing. who would have ever thought that.

Yes, but the bulk of Vanderbilt's success is encapsulated in this line:

Dan McGugin (1904-1917, 1919-1934): 197-55-19 .762.

Take those years out of the equation and recalculate. you will get a far less impressive per year average. Or, if you simply consider the years (1935-2012) since McGugin retired, VU's cumulative record is: 305-495-24 (.38471), good enough for 107th among BCS programs during that period (I-A Winning Percentage 1935-2012).
