Why is the media so in love with the Gators?

I can't really remember the last time TN was favored to beat Florida. It seems like the media in general is still in love with the reputation that Florida built in the 90's. Florida is not the dominant team that they used to be. Last year on the road in Gainesville, TN played horribly and still only got beat by 9 points. Why does everyone think the gators are going to come into Neyland Stadium and will by 20? It doesn't make sense to me.

i think there's already been a thread that discussed this. basically, i think that the media is really drawn to the wide open, "fun 'n gun," style offense built on lots and lots of speed. they really don't like hard-nosed smashmouth football because it isn't as sexy as a 60 yard bomb caught by a diving receiver. that's why they fell in love and are still love with USC.

plus, florida is filled with athletic talent from the panhandle to the keys, and the media expects a lot from florida teams and just likes them more as a result.

Ive noticed something about Tennessee. Either you love us, or you hate us. There's no middle ground at all. The media isn't so warm with us, It doesn't bother me. Most media memebers are idiots anyway.

Examples:

Lee Corso
Chris Fowler
Beano Cook (dumbest figure in sports media)
The guy that broadcast on CBS (Not Vern Lundquist)
Joe Theisman (Joe Theisman absolutley loves Joe Theisman)

I'm glad they are on the Florida Bandwagon again. It will make tommorow night even sweeter.

They have played noone so far and ESPN is ready to give them the SEC Title.

espn was ready to give them the SEC title in july. i love it when the media hates tennessee. it's when we play our best; in the underdog role.

There is someone else on this board listed as "Donatello from Bucksnort". He is the one using this Racking term. It is kind of catchy, but what does it really mean?

I've been watching all the picks and most everyone is picking UF to beat TN. Surprisingly, Trev Alberts picked TN to beat UF on CSTV's Crystal Ball show. He used to always pick against TN when he was on ESPN.

Mods moved it, and rightfully so.

It isn't true. Talked with the Public Relations Director via e-mail and she says she knows nothing about it.

Don't worry, we are in good shape for tomorrow!!

Anything to sell papers, ads on tv ect.... some media folks say exactly what they know will stir the pot the most. We know the truth!

Well, IIRC, last year about 1/2 of the pundits picked UT over UF. UT was picked during SEC media days 2005 to win the SEC overall.

I'm not seeing anybody in the media saying Florida will win this weekend by 20. I've seen a few go as high as a touchdown, most picking the Gators by 3-4 points.

I'm biased, but I think a 3-4 point pick in favor of the Gators is about right. But I also realize that a forecast in that range, in a game of this magnitude, is really too close to call with anything other than a guess or a "feeling" (glorified guess).
