Why is this considered the 117th team?

Sorry if it's been discussed, but where are we getting 117 from? I was watching the 1990 Florida game the other night, and we were celebrating 100 years of football.

2013-1990 + 100 = 123...123-117 = 6
So there are 6 times that Tennessee has not fielded a football team.
If I recall my history correctly, these were all during the World War years.

Our first game was in 1891. We didn't field teams in 1894-95 for unknown reasons (legend is no one wanted to play) and in 1898 due to the Spanish American War. We didn't field teams in 1917 and 18 due to WWI and '43 due to WWII. Those are the 6 years of no UT football since 1891.

Cause last year's team was #116 and next year's is #118 IMO

Aren't those two of the years that Bama already claimed titles. Oh, I forgot we have to multiply by two. So they claim 4 titles for two years.

Legend is Great-great-great-great Grandpappy Dooley tried to micromanage everything and they all were fed up with it.
