Maybe I am wrong but I would have let the Gators think my best D-linemen wouldn't play. I think Harell's return will affect the game. I am not sure if it will swing the game but I know this helps us. What would you have done? Does it really make a difference breaking the news today or Saturday?

Go Orange!!!

I had thought about that myself, but it would have eventually leaked out if he was seen practicing. It would be nearly impossible to keep this quiet until gameday.

It's not like you can keep it a secret. He was practicing, people saw him.

Besides the overall boost to the entire VolNation has been well worth it....

i think the emotional edge given by Harrell is awesome and wouldnt have the same response from the Nation

Nah, i think this getting out is huge for us. Who knows, florida might have been feeling optimistic knowing he was out, but now that we all knows he's not, its a huge blow to the gators. Now they're worried and second guessing. Not to mention this is a huge move by harrell, playing hurt for this one game, florida is scared now!

I usually don't speculate on such matters, but will say this. I would imagine that the injury to Inky was and is an emotional drain. Anything to get the player's minds off of that has to be appreciated this week. I think this will help the team move on a bit.

Oh, please. Sure it probably makes a difference in some play calling but the notion that it has some emotional impact on Florida is just plain ridiculous.

Can't argue that LG. The only team that this has any emotional impact on is the Vols. I seriously doubt Florida's strategy will change at all. However, if he is playing well, and he knows it is his last game, he is most likely to leave it all on the field.

Harrell's quality and quantity of performance, like everything else about this game is purely speculation at this point. His return is just one more reason to move kickoff to tonight, or Friday night. Lets get this show on the road.

Florida's mood towards the game hasn't and shouldn't change because of 1 player being in or out. They know that Tennessee has tons of talent anyway, so now they just know they have to deal with a better player at 1 position.

Tennessee, however, has had a mood change because of emotions, as we all know, are now running higher.

I agree with both comments. At the beginning of the game, your team will get a nice emotioanl surge out of it. to the Gators, it means nothing emotionally. Might run right at him early to test him, might pay closer attention to his tendencies on film as he is going to play, but other than that Florida is not affected.

It's hard to believe that he's going to see a lot of action playing basically one armed.

If Meyer doesn't run right at him early to test for weakness, he's not doing his job. The job of the coach is to find your opponent's weaknesses and exploit them.

Harrell may be as strong as ever, but I'd run a play designed to attack the gap on the side of Harrell's injury.

If the End comes over to help out, I'd option towards that same gap and toss to a back running on the other side of that End.

If the linebacker steps up to help out Harrell, I'd run routes that cut behind the linebacker.

If Harrell holds his own and the End and/or LB doesn't come over to help him out, I'd explore other possible weaknesses. But knowing that Harrell might be one, no doubt I'd try it early.

Unfortunately, it's now midway through the 2nd quarter and you are down 21-0 and have 8 yards of total offense and no 1st downs.

No, it only takes one play to see if Harrell, the DE, or the LB are lining up or reacting any differently when the play comes right at Harrell. If everyone does their job, move on to the next UT weakness.
