Prior to Spurrier taking over a program that was on probation and had lost five or more games for four consecutive seasons, Spurrier went 9-2 his first season and followed that in 1991 by going 10-2 and winning the program's first Southeastern Conference title. He won additional SEC crowns from 1993-96 and again in 2000, with his '96 team winning the national championship. Meyer came in on solid footing compared to Spurrier. I expect his footing to continue to slip, especially when the Vols pop them in Knoxville next year.

He can't continue to abuse Tebow the way he did this year. So far it's been just a shoulder and now a broken hand, but those injuries are going to pile up.

I think any coach will be because he was the 1st champ winning coach they've ever had. Most UF fans came about during that time and will always use it as a measuring stick for the future. What he did in those years will probably never be duplicated in the SEC.

1) fantilidie, your cockeyed optimisim is downright cute. I may be up there for the game nexty year. If so, it would be my great pleasure to buy you a beer before the game and then meet up afterwards to see how you feel about things.

2) Tebow next year will be much more of a traditional throwing QB because the running back who transferred from USC will be eligible. Not saying he'll never run -- its part of the option that he does so to keep defenses honest. But he won't have to do it as much as he has just to keep the drives alive.

The vols will shut down Tebow next year in Knoxville and win that game easily. UF's Oline and Dline will be terrible next year. UT 30 UF 21

Bold faced lie. You might want to think that, but Kestahn Moore is no less talented than Emmanuel Moody. If Tebow throws more and runs less, you have the Leak led offense that couldn't break 25+ points against decent defenses.

Meyer's offense calls for a dual threat at QB. He'll run just as much, if not more, next season. If Tebow runs less, Meyer is admitting his offense will not work in the SEC. It's a once in a decade thing to have a defense like UF had in 2006.

Meyer inherited a better program and will accomplish more. he won an NC in 2 years. It took Spurrier years to accomplish that.

Meyer is coaching another school right now if Spurrier didn't work his magic on UF.

If Spurrier had never coached Florida...

Well UF would have been MORE than happy with the Zooker.

i wouldn't count on moody to be the savior. if chauncey washington, a true freshman, and 2 other players beat you on the depth chart you ain't andrian peterson.

UT will NOT win that game easily. If UT does win, it will be a struggle. I do think UF wins as of right now.
