I like both of these coaches but there seems to be an overwhelming amount of talk about Patterson and nothing about Petersen.

Is there some connection I'm missing or qualifications I don't know about?

TIA I'll hang up and listen

I'd prefer Patterson due to his defensive prowess that I think is needed in the sec. Plus his ties to Texas and Louisiana will help in recruiting. Petersen is good, but I think he wants to stay out west and wait on the Oregon job.

This is my feelings, would rather have Patterson because he is more of a southerner and defensive minded where peterson seems to be a solid west coast guy and more offense focused.

But hey I'm just a huge Vol fan and have no connections to either so i could be completely wrong. Peterson could be dying to be the Vols next coach and we are under the impression that hes a westcoast guy so we wont eve contact him and Patterson could have no interest and we could be calling him but he ignores us cause he wants a west coast gig LOL.

Honestly I'd be happier with either than any of the names being tossed around right now.

Yea that makes sense. I would be really pleases with either coach. Always felt Petersen was a little whiny for some reason...

@Volfan I'm sorry but she's distracting!

I think there's a long-standing perception that Peterson's not going anywhere. For me, at least, that's why his name doesn't come up.

This. Peterson is quirky. And one of those quirks is that it seems as though nothing can get him out of Florida. Turned down programs in much better shape than us.

Both coaches would be great hires, but for whatever reason Petersen seems to love Boise. Looking at that Blue field all the time must have damaged a few brain cells.

Larry (LWSVOL) doesn't seem to think there is much chance that we could pull Patterson. I hope that he's wrong on this one though. I think he is one of the better defensive coaches out there and I honestly think he could get it done here. Would need an SEC Coaching/Recruiting staff though.
