A very high profile recruit just said, "They have the best facilities I've seen so far and I love how they have 100,000 fans there for their games."
I have always wondered how we stack up on the national scene as far as facilities. For a long time we were always top 3 I think, but there was a time that we fell off a little bit. Are we back now? Next to coaching hires, this has to be one of MH's top priorities. I know that UF has upgraded significantly lately.
Im curious as to your opinion on what you think motivates a player to choose a school. Is it facilities,, head coach/position coaches, playing time, tradition, tv appearances, girls, or what?

I heard that our current jumbotron stays on 24hrs a day now because they are scared that if they turn it off, it wont come back on

i think a great fan base has to be in there somewhere. look at how it helped out this year at the florida bb game. i think that helped out alot with nuke.

Location (proximity to home) plays a larger factor than most people realize.

Not really, it just seems that way because they grow up as fans of their regional schools. It's also VERY difficult to pull many recruits out of a certain region because of that. You have a lot of kids that have come to play for UT within 300-400 miles because they grew up wanting to wear the orange and it really didn't have anything to do with distance. A big factor that has hurt us is the fact that so many schools now are on the national scene thanks to better regional coverage by the outlets. That has made recruiting harder than anything else really.

I'm pretty sure they are getting ready to replace it for the upcoming season.

A 2002 study by Wahba and Bridgewell found little evidence to support Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

The hierarchy of needs is nothing more than a fool's daydream; there is no possible way to classify ever-changing needs as society changes.

Chilean economist Manfred Max-Neef is also opposed to a hierarchical system to explain human behavior.

What changes, both over time and through cultures, is the way or means by which the needs are satisfied.

Meaning needs are not substitutable--it is possible to achieve one without it affecting a second need. It's possible therefore to select multiple satisfiers at once.

CliffsNotes---attitudes/needs are ever-changing and vary from individual to individual.

Thanks for keeping this thread classy and sophisticated. :rock2:

Honestly, I would think that most of the major programs in the country have "comparable" facilities. I'm sure that all universities that have major college football programs have certain things that the others don't but overall I'd say in terms of sheer facilities, it's a toss up.

Personally I think most recruits these days look at these things...

1.) Program Prestige
2.) System
3.) Playing time
4.) Position coach
5.) Head Coach
6.) Facilities

Now you're talking. Plus no one wants to play for a loser.

These kids are no different than you or me. They grow up loving the college that is closest to them or their state college. Huge draw if that college has an interest in them. IE: Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, LSU.
