I've been there too and have yet to hear anyone give a solution to resolving the hell in that country that has any remote chance of working.

Pull out or not, that country has gone to hell in a hand basket. It's just a matter of time before the next president caves into the pressure and Iraq is left to pick up the pieces itself and becomes an even more predominant terrorist safe haven.

More prominent than now. But, I think that it is safe to say that it was not a haven for terrorists prior to our invasion. Well, the terrorists we were worried about at least. I am just sad we have allowed the terrorists to regroup in Afghanistan/Pakistan. Maybe we never had a chance of clearing them out of there...

Thanks to those who are over there (or have been) for serving our country. Wheter or not we are making progress, our commander-in-chief wants us there, and you have all answered that call with honor.

No matter what happens in Iraq terrorists will be around. They will hit us overseas and will hit us here. It's a stretch to somehow think we're going to draw them all there and wipe them out at the gates of Baghdad. Whether we succeed in Iraq or not we will still be fighting extremists.

Not condoning the Dems' policies but look at Israel. They've had NO hands tied and they've been going at it since '48. There comes a time when you have to find the best way to give the Iraqis the best chance and find a way out.

The troops have done a remarkable job with what they were given and told to do. But thanks to flawed logic and planning, we have boxed ourselves into a worse situation. Only after the politicians dug us into a deep hole did they decide to start freeing up hands to do what was needed. Time will tell if it was too little too late.

Be resolved to the fact we've made our bed and must lie in it in the Middle East. No matter what happens in Iraq our children and their children will be taking trips to clean up the mess that is cultural and religious extremism.

I can't leave well enough alone...

A dictator who attempted genocide of some of his own people with chemical weapons doesn't qualify as a terrorist?

Maybe the excuses used to go there were suspect, but that doesn't change the fact that it was the right thing to do... finish what was started in '92. JMHO. :hi:

If taking out evil dictators is "the right thing to do", then why arn't we waging war in Africa? The brutality of dictators there make Saddam's regime look like Sesame Street.

Going into a Iraq was flawed thinking, "shooting from the hip" politics, and has hurt us way more than helped. The Bush brand of foreign policy has alienated our allies- especially Russia- whom is about to kick up another Cold War/Arms Race with us.

But hey- I hear Dick Cheney's company, Haliburton, is doing quite well because if it!:glare:

I agree and that's why I think we need to just drop some nukes on Iraq and Iran. should eliminate a good chunk of terrorists

Is there even a remote bit of strategic value to interevening in Africa?

Yes. Was there something I was supposed to have seen in it that would actually convince me Russia was ever an ally?

Perhaps not- especially if you lived through the Cold War.

Well, if you justify invaded Iraq because of an evil dictator- then yes!
Nobody justified it based upon the evil dictator or internal strife in Iraq. Regardless of justification, we wouldn't be there if Saddam (and neighbors) didn't have sway over the world's oil supply. Call it what you will, but we are not in Iraq today if oil weren't an issue.

I agree 100%. Doesn't it piss you off that they fed us every BS reason in the book why we should go into Iraq besides for oil? I don't believe anything our gov't says now. Both parties are in the pockets of big oil/business and don't care what we think or what we want. We are in Iraq so the Fat Cats can get fatter.

That whole "taking the fight to the terrorists" is bollox. We had Afghanistan for that reason.

#$%^ low gas prices, I want an alternative fuel source. What if we dumped the billions and billions of dollars we've spent on this war in R&D for a new fuel source? We'd easily have it right now.

That won't happen though. Not while Big Oil has our gov't and nation by the balls. :rtfm:
