Why does MNF have to be over before the announcement? Wouldn't it be better for recruiting if he took the job then finished MNF? I mean think about it every week recruits would tune in to see the next vols head football coach talking football every week.

Is that some sort of recruiting violation? I mean is there a rule that a head coach in the NCAA can't be a public figure?:loco:

It can be percieved as bad form to your current employer

It would be bad form to just quit.. I.E. Petrino at ATL.

I think it would be more like a 2 week Notice if you finished it out.

I just don't see a problem with it.

If it is indeed Gruden, then we are on his time table. We've been impatient for good news so long, we can't stand it. I understand, I'd like to open Christmas gifts before Thanksgiving to.

He won't be "Finished" with MNF after this season. So if and when he is hired at some point he will be leaving his contract early. So I don't see this as this big road block as far as timing goes. I think if it gets done it will be announced before the end of this season of MNF.

Why burn bridges that don't need to be burnt? The least he could do is finish out the MNF season if he is indeed returning to coaching. He's not going to be coaching forever and might be interested in coming back. Not sure that would go over so well if he just dumped them and made them find a replacement at the last minute. Recruiting is the least of our worries if Gruden comes.

It allows the Gruden crowd some time to pound their chest as they tell everyone he is coming. When it is announced another coach has been hired, they can just say the funding fell through. Aww Shucks!!

Maybe it is Gruden in the end. People say that the deal is done are just hoping. They have nothing to support it.

Even if it's announced he could still finish out the season. Also ESPN if obviously aware of all this, Dilfer has already done some MNF and could carry on very easily.

My question is this...

If he "is" going to accept the job then why can't he accept the job and STILL finish MNF?

Urban Myer accepted the OSU job and was broadcasting at the same time.

I Think if he accepts he will accept before the 22nd or whatever the last MNF game is and then finish the MNF season.

I think he could finish since it'd be a college job. If he was coming back to coach pros...that'd be a different story.

Could be they are still hashing it out. It may not be a done deal. Gruden has us by the b@lls because he knows we want him, but then again how much can we really afford? Tune in to the same Gruden channel at the same Gruden time next week to see if the Riddler case has been cracked.

That would be a direct conflict of interest with the NFL and NCAA. It would bring in all kinds of problems.
