1. Free throws. This is were FLA truly beat us, 16-22 vs 4-10. Got to make better than 40% to win on the road, and Tenn is not getting to the line enough. We shouldn't be attempting 18 3's with our percentages.
2. Pitiful PG play offensively. Goins had no assists and 2 TO's, Golden 1 assist 2 turnover's. The play were Goins drove in the paint into the back Williams, lost the ball, and banged his head on the floor was so bad it was almost laughable. His inability to get us into a play at the end of the game is also pitiful, but is part of Pearl's fault (see #3). Melvin did play good D though as usual, not his fault on the GW lay-up. Golden is worse than Goins offensively and defense is worse than his offense, not good.
3. Pearl's game management of the timeouts. He held onto the 2 he had while Florida went on a 10-2 from the 10:47 mark to the 8:34 mark like he was wanting to save them. Why save them and not call a TO with 12 secs left down by 1 to get a play for Hopson or Harris with Big Baby in position for a put back? I rewinded the game a few times, no one moved more than 5 feet after getting in position after crossing half court other than Goins dribbling around. They just stood and watched Goins. Pearl said he had a call for Scotty/Cam to get the ball and take Parson's. When did he make the call, while they were wandering around like lost puppies wasting seconds??? He should have recognized the lost look on all their faces like we did and called time out. I agree with the not calling TO thing in certain circumstances, this wasn't one. A good coach should be able to draw up a decent play for their team in the final seconds.
Last thoughts...
-Harris found some of his game in second half.
-Brian and Scotty are carrying this team offensively.
-The team is playing good enough D to win most if not every game lost in SEC play, but is offset by subpar offense.
- Team MUST play better offensively or we will not go anywhere in the Dance, or NIT
*Think we have to win 4 of final six to get in the Dance. May get in with 3 of 6 but doubt it, too many loses at end of year.
