Why we MUST beat Vandy

OK. Realistically I give us maybe a 20% chance. Not astronomical but certainly not very good either.

I say 60/40 UT. You must remember Vandy lost by 32 to AtM, the exact amount UT lost by to Auburn today. Also, UF gave them the game today.

Almost forgot my favorite slogan
BUTCHuggers...

Look everybody! It's that one time per century that a vandy fan can talk trash to UT fans. Enjoy it while you can, take pictures, tell the grandkids one day. Because like Halley's comet, it only happens once a lifetime. :dance2:

They will never be a Bama level team, but fact of the matter is, they're 5-4, while we're 4-6. Much as it pains me to say it, next week while UT has a bye, Vandy may well punch their ticket for their fourth bowl bid since 2008, and come into our house with a post season game and at least a break even record already guaranteed, while we have to beat them and Kentucky to break even.

If we win I don't see a repeat of the 2011 Kentucky game, so we will go bowling.

If we don't win, quite a few of the good incoming recruits that are lined up may well jump ship for better teams.

I win next week could be what it takes to truly start rebuilding the program. A loss will destroy what progress has been made and set UT back at least another year or two, if not longer.

That's a little melodramatic, our recruits understand they are coming to rebuild. A win or loss to Vandy doesn't change that.

If we beat Vandy, in all likelyhood we will be going bowling. Everybody already knows that.
But sitting here thinking that if we go, it will be the first time since I've been watching football that we go bowling while the Gators stay home!
Please, football gods, make this happen!

There are five reasons that I want us to beat Vandy.

(1) I am driving from Nashville to see the game and want to leave on a good note and not with a loss

(2) We need to get bowl eligible for all the seniors and send them off on a good note.

(3) This will give the "EE's" a chance to practice as soon as they arrive on campus.

(4) Currently, we are in 2nd place in the NCAA with the most bowl game appearances. Actually Nebraska is tied with us at 49. If Nebraska goes to a bowl game and we don't, then we will fall to 3rd in the NCAA in bowl game appearances. Nebraska will have 50 appearances and we will have 49.

(5) Currently UGA has 48 bowl game appearances. If we don't go to a bowl game and they do, we will be tied for 3rd most bowl game appearances in NCAA with UGA. We will both have 49 bowl game appearances.

No offense, but this thread is unnecessary.

Anyone who doesn't understand how critical this game is, against Vandy, can't seriously claim to be Vol.

Or he or she is really, really stupid.

No offense (my disclaimer)

Your post and reply to my thread is unnecessary. Frankly, I don't give a rat's azz what you think about my choice in thread material. Being on its 4th page now, I'd say it's been pretty successful.

Anybody who posts in a thread complaining about said thread is either an azzwhole or really, really stupid

I wasn't slamming you for your thread choice...it's just that what you are saying is obvious.

If that offends you, then you need to get a bigger pair of panties, because apparently the ones you are wearing is too tight.

I mean, if I had WANTED to be rude, I would have said

DUH! Of course we need to beat Vandy.

Like I said, I don't give a white rat's azz what you think.

Just the "no offense, but blah blah blah" thing just made me feel compelled to point out what a loser thing you said. If you didn't mean to stir the pot, you should have kept your fingers in the stink wrinkle and off the keyboard

I honestly can't remember the last time we beat UGA and FLA in the same season. Kudos to them, but there is no way he stays at Vandy if he beats UGA, FL, and TN in the same year. USC here he comes.

Why did you include TN in that series? No one other than Vol fans think TN is a decent team.

1925, Franklin has broken many streaks in his 3 years
Anchor Down

How about starting a streak, such as, beating teams with winning records? The alignment of the stars for Vanderbilt to play the right teams at the right times in the right years is indeed astonishing. If they aren't playing a team either in a terrible down year or with about half of their starters hurt (See UGA, the ONLY team they've beaten with a winning record, needing a miracle 4th quarter meltdown to do so), they are playing the likes of Presbyterian College, UMass, and Wake Forest. Vandy has beaten ONE TEAM with a winning record this year, and the combined record of the opponents they've defeated is a whopping 13-33. 13-33!!! Please try to accomplish something of significance, more so than beating a 7-5 NC State team in a Bowl Game, then come back and talk a little trash.

I thought Vanderbilt was supposed to be a smart school. What's with Anchor Down? Don't they know that an anchor stops the ship? These boys are smart.
