I understand that there are already threads on this topic but please bare with me.
I know many of us simply will not be able to make it up this Saturday, but I also know there are alot of fans that could easily go but won't. I was in that group up until a few days ago when several posts here on VN changed my mind. I wanted to condense those points in one place to hopefully sway a few more fans to go and support the VOLS.
My main point is that attendance at spring games can correlate with success in recruiting and on the field.
Alabama pulled crowds of 90,000 + 3 years out of Saban's first 5 seasons as head coach. We know the success they've had.
NCAA Spring Game Record - Ohio State 95,722 in 2009
SEC Spring Game Record - Alabama 92,310 in 2011
Tennessee Spring Game Record - 73,801 in 1986
SEC 2013 Spring Attendance
Kentucky - 50,831 (this should just piss you off)
Texas A&M - 45,212
Georgia - 45,113
South Carolina - 35,218
Vandy - 14,000
The real kicker is that Kentucky CHARGED ADMISSION
Nebraska currently leads the NCAA this year with 60,174
We have a chance to OBLITERATE Vandy and make the same statement the Wildcats are trying to make. . . THE BEAST OF THE EAST IS BACK! If we show up strong we can best three teams that are currently thought of as being at the top of the SEC. And we are at an all-time low!

This is the best I could glean from the abundance of information on the Recruiting Forum. It isn't perfect but the point is solid. These young men want to play for a school whose fans are excited about the future!

"As fans, we don't get many opportunities to impact the program's success. Saturday is one of those opportunities. Recruits can be VERY impressed by strong fan showings (see 90K+ at Saban's first spring game, setting the stage for his breakthrough class in 08). If you don't want to go, don't complain when the program isn't where you want it to be down the road."
The team works year round to put a product on the field that the fans can be proud of. The least we can do is our part as those proud fans.
The coach is recruiting and teaching. The players are learning and improving. It's the fans' turn.
This Saturday, April 20th, the Tennessee Volunteers need you at Neyland Stadium at 2:00 p.m. The upperclassmen haven't had the proper Big Orange experience, but the light is clearly at the end of the tunnel.
Show your support. Make the pilgrimage. Fill the stadium and give your team as much as they've given you.
Tennessee Volunteers Football: Orange and White Game Needs to Be Sold Out | Bleacher Report
Ya it is bleacherreport but I agree wholeheartedly.
We are supposed to be the greatest fan base in the nation. We need to do out part and prove to our coaches, our team, our recruits, and perhaps to a degree ourselfs that WE ARE STILL TENNESSEE. If you can make the trip please do it. Bring your friends and family. Like I said before I wasn't planning on going. Now I'm driving up with a group of six. Every VOL counts.
Ill end this ridiculously long post with GregAmsler's wise words from earlier. .
