Wild card team

I've said Wichita State for enough things already. I'll go with Marquette, because it feels like no one is taking them all that seriously.

I like Gonzaga to make a good run since they won't have to play St. Mary's. And I think the MWC goes beyond the Sweet 16 this year, probably San Diego State University.

They'll lose in the 2nd round, but I think Montana will win their first game provided they're a 13 or 14 seed.

Depending on the matchup, Gonzaga looks like an easy pick to lose in the first round. Good efficiency numbers and such, but unless a team is stupid enough to hack them the whole game they're in trouble. It's an automatic red flag if a team relies heavily on free throws because of how much it varies crew-to-crew and because some teams don't have to foul as much as others do.

And in terms of teams seeded 12th/13th or lower that could/will pull an upset, I'd pick either VCU or Belmont.

I'd pick them to at least win one game if they get a 12. Maybe two, depending on the 4 seed they would likely play.

vcu? Hell Naw'!

Even if it is a sucky 4 seed team, i think vcu lost the magic dust from last year.

Momentum/what's happened in the past has nothing to do with it. Actual performance on the court this season does.

They are peaking at the right time...but lightning doesnt strike the same place 2 times. The only way vcu wins a game is if they get a super lucky draw.

We'll see. The "VCU is out of magic" argument sounds a lot like "Butler is out of magic and couldn't possibly do that again" from last year. Either way, I'm so happy to be having these conversations again. Means that the first Thursday is inching ever closer.

I predicted Butler in the final four last year. But only b/c i knew Sheldon Mack (whatever his name is spelled) and he's cool. Butler wasnt all that shocking as a 8 seed.

:p

Wichita State and Colorado State are both worth being taken seriously. Does Marquette count? If so, I'll take them, also.

Also, I still think Saint Louis makes a run of some sort. Sweet 16, especially if the 2 seed opponent would be Duke.
