Wilhoite needs some sort of punishment.

Take it easy Lady - it's not like he's missing from 30 yards or something. He'll be alright.

Wilhoit needs to get better, fast. This wouldn't have even been a nail-biter if Wilhoit hit two of those three kicks.

Scott Newsome and Adam Miles

It's not that Wilhoit has a lack of skill, he just needs to get consistent.

We won! Who cares if he missed a couple of 50 yarders.

If we had been behind and NEEDED those FGs the WHOLE VolNation would have cared. Wilhoite has GOT to start hitting those threes!!

lets not forget the rest of the team had a poor game last week and didn't give the kicker a chance to help and he did hang a big one in Florida. let's see how he does next week before we bench him.

Anything over 40 yards is not a gimme field goal. So far this season Wilhoite is 3-of-8 from 40+ yards (2-of-3 from 50+ yards). However, he is only 1-of-5 between 40-49 yards and does need improvement. He has hit his only attempt of less than 40 yards. Its actually a good thing that he has not attempted alot of field goals of less than 40 yards.... that means that the offense is scoring when it gets into the 'orange zone'. Most kickers pad their stats with short field goals, but still miss the 40+ ones. Some coaches don't even have confidence in their kickers enough from that distance and go for it on 4th down instead of kicking it.

Wilhoit has made 2 50+ field goals so we have to give him props but 3 missed field goals vs. UGA could have killed us.

I think it's all in his head - he'll be fine. Playing someone else would only further shake his confidence and the only way out is for him to play through it. He hit the one that really counted this year and hasn't cost us a game yet - I'd be willing to bet that he's getting plenty of reps in the 35-49 yard range in practice this week though!
