Will be in Boston this weekend. Any sports bar recommendations?

They say "Cheers" is the kind of place where everyone knows your name.

True story - I was visiting Boston and was at the Cheers bar in February 2020 and we were playing an afternoon game against Mississippi State in basketball and there was coincidentally a couple of other Vols fans there watching the game lol

UT Doesnt have an alumni group there.

I have customers in Boston and frequent quite a bit. Try the Green Dragon and Bell in Hand. Oldest pubs in America and its worth the experience just to hear the stories and accents. You must also stop by Wicked Craft and get that chicken cutlet sandwich - to die for. They call it the Chicken Craft Co. now I think. All three of these places are pretty walkable between.

There's a couple of sports bars around Fenway that will have a good selection of college games on. Just to warn you - people in Boston don't give a rat's behind about college football. They don't get it. I asked someone once if they had the SEC Network and they looked at me like I had a foot growing from my head.

Don't miss the Chowder at the Union Oyster House. TV"s in bar section, Lobster roll at Pauli's and a Cannoli at Mike's (both in North End) Pizza or at Santarpio'sin East Boston or Galleria Umberto in North End. And a roast beef sandwich at All Star Sandwich bar in Cambridge or Kelly's (revere beach location only)

Somewhat related story.

I live in Orlando and was dating a young lady about ten years ago who lived in LA. We decided to meet up for a trip in Boston and stayed at some cool hotel, don't remember the name, but it used to be a police station like in the 1920s. Our room was 50 feet or so from elevator banks.

Anywhosal, Saturday noon I put on my Gator sweatshirt and announce I am going to go to the downstairs bar to watch Florida versus somebody (UGA maybe?). She rolls her eyes and makes fun of me that I'm thinking other fans will be there.

I go to elevator door, which opens, and a chorus of "Go Gators!" greets me from fans similarly attires. I can hear her laughing and "You've got to be kidding me!" from the room.

Point is, SEC football. People not in the SEC don't understand. And when you find yourself amongst such people, its usually pretty easy to find some SEC fans of your team pretty close by. Sometimes about 50 feet.

We always had big SEC watch parties for the big games between represented teams while my wife was at MIT. There are a bunch of SEC folks anywhere in the Northeast and they'll be vocal on gamedays.

I spoke to the manager of this bar and she said they always have a pretty big group of Vol fans.
So that’s where I will watch the Bama game.
Hope any New England area Vol fans will join me. Buck Fama!
Wish I was there, I’ll be in Boston the following weekend. Have fun.
