As per ESPN College Football Rumors

Lane Kiffin was all about landing the top prospects in the country. His strategy: Get them on campus, get them in school and get them on the field.

This style is not shared by new Tennessee coach Derek Dooley, who continues to preach building a strong foundation. Dave Hooker of the Knoxville News Sentinel points out that Volunteer fans are a bit worried about their team's slow start to the 2011 recruiting season, as UT has just two public commitments so far.

But Dooley assures that his plan will pay off in the long run, and that situations like the one currently involving former prize recruit Bryce Brown won't be popping up again (because those situations typically occur when you pitch playing time and not the school). Also, Hooker makes the point that Dooley was busy trying to keep a top-10 2010 class intact during the weeks leading up to signing day, while other schools were already working on junior prospects, which could be why the Vols are a little bit behind at the moment.

Rome wasnt built in 2 days.

let the plan unfold and then make judgments.

About the BB situation, A healthy BB would have been far more productive than the one we got.

C'mon really? is this not what every single recruiter in the country is trying to do? what an idiotic statement.

Anyone who understands recruiting and is paying attention isn't concerned with only having 2 recruits right now. It takes time to build relationships and relationships are how recruiting is done. Dooley and company are doing a fine job out there on the trail and we're going to have a very good class that fills our needs. If you don't believe me, open up all the threads on page 1 of the recruiting section of VN and read, pay attention and learn. Then you'll understand our situation much better.

We're going to be fine.

I think DD will turn out to be a great fit for our University....I'm not worried about only having 2 commits right now, it's only May, signing day isn't until February

Dooley has to prove he can win. This staff has all the other tools to provide us with excellent recruiting(parents like this staff, some with HUGE track records-see baggett, etc) but no one wants to play for a loser
