I think the distinction is between testing a device, versus developing one which could be weaponized and delivered militarily.

I believe the device they last tested was 2 or 3 stage device. One of the stages failed, if they get this last stage worked out then they have a full blown nuclear capable platform. We have already walked up to that line, only a matter of time before they cross it.

Debate about the Iraq war aside...I always thought NK was the bigger threat. They are extremely close to having a viable way to attack us with nuclear weapons. And if they wanted, they could launch nuclear missile attacks on S. Korea and Japan tomorrow.

I mean, let's face it, Kim Jong Il is crazy, there is no telling what he is capable of.

What was tested was 'weaponized'. It detonated. In that same form, it can be delivered, detonated, and destroy a city and tens of thousands of people. The test was successful. Regardless this is a bold guarantee on his part. Since we were caught off guard with this last test, who is to say they don't already have a functioning device? Our intel there is poor.

My point is what means will he use to ensure this especially when China and Russia have already threatened us with any firm response and our intel being as poor as it is there?

I agree. If that guy has the capability, he will use it.

To answer the question of this thread: An emphatic No. NK will have nuclear weapons if they don't already. So will Iran.

I agree 100%. Obama would never use military force against either country, even as a last resort. And I'll never be convinced that Iran only wants nuclear power for energy uses.

:lolabove:

That ain't much of a distinction. You've taken splitting hairs to a whole new level.

You're a lawyer, what would be their motive for just "testing a device"? :eek:lol:
