if texas loses, does TCU get picked for the game? Also,do they have a chance vs florida or bama?

I would think so. Bigger question would be if bama loses before the season ends but beats #1 UF in the national championship game...

would it be Texas vs TCU or Texas vs Alabama

i didnt think teams from the same conference can play each other in the national championship?

It's unlikely since they would have to play in the SECC game, but I'm not aware of a rule against it. Is there?

No rule against it and it fits inside the only two teams from each conference rule

Problem is that yeah they play each in the SECC game the week before and the polls dont seem to work too well in not dropping a team that lost the previous week several spaces when they can do so

the polls work too much on looking at who didnt lose in the last week

In 2006 the talking heads on ESPN were pretty much begging for a rematch between Michigan and Ohio St in the MNC game. It didn't happen, but apparently it can.

but after OSU and Michigan played, there were still like 2-3 weeks of football left in the college season (including each of those 2 teams having 2 weeks off afterwards) before the bowl selections had to be made...there was enough time for the loser to move back up in the polls

the difference would be that two top SEC teams ranked 1 nad 2 would be playing the day right before the selection comittees made it's final decisions

I honestly think TCU would match up better against Alabama than Texas would. Maybe not against Florida, but I really think TCU could beat the Tide.

TCU's best shot is for
1. FSU to beat UF or Aub to beat Bama
2. Whoever of UF or Bama lost in reg season to win SECCG
3. BCS puts undefeated TCU in over 1-loss SEC champ (which I think it should if this were the case)

I think there is a much greater chance of this happening that Texas losing before January

I was hoping for Houston earlier in the year but TCU is my next choice. But wouldn't Cinci jump them in the long run?

Doubtful. TCU has won more games in a more convincing fashion than Cincy, in a conference that most voters seem to think is now better than the Big East.

Some years that rivalry game motivation would be enough to push A&M over the edge.

I highly doubt this is one of those years.

Agreed, anyone not notice that beatdown Oklahoma gave them?? The only chance for them to lose is in the Big 12 title game like Oklahoma a few years back.

And they went anyways.

Unless we get a playoff then I think you get SEC vs. SEC year-in and year-out in the CG.

I figure it'd (2 SEC teams) get set up like you usually see Duke and UNC in the NCCAT bracket: both on the same side so they cant be the championship game
